10. He was arrested because he crossed a police line. Actually, I think |
|
the police treated him decently. If they were really laying the wood to him he wouldn't have been continuing his chant the whole time. And tying someone up with tie wraps isn't as easy as slapping the cuffs on them. I was there, although I did not witness this particular incident, but later I did see two other individuals climb onto what was very likely the same lamp post he used, and they got maced, big time, very likely to prevent a repetition of this scene. They fell back into the crowd, where they were doused with water to clear the mace from their eyes. Got to remember that our fight isn't with the cops, but the Congress that's ignoring the American public. All in all, I personally thought the police did a pretty good job with the demonstration, which I'm sure isn't a fun time for them, even if they are on overtime.
What really annoyed me? Being refused permission to walk up the steps of the Treasury building to shoot a high angle shot of the parade route. Don't I pay for that building? Isn't it public property? I can understand police guarding the door, but not to be able to walk up the steps?

. . . but he never missed a beat. Why was he arrested? It didn't appear he did anything illegal.

9. And it took a long time . . . |

. . . and they were doing something to him before they even put the handcuffs on. Really bizarre.

11. This young man is a hero! |

He didn't miss a beat. He didn't act violent. He was ready to be arrested for peace. If the whole crowd jumped one at a time there wouldn't be prisons enough to hold us.
