We're still in unknown territory here! Will the military support free elections and the beginnings of a democracy or will we have another authoritarian state?

8. Premature rumors
Mubarak said he wasn't going anywhere, he would hand over power to Omar Suleiman in some unspecified near future, and he would not bow to outside pressures. The crowd roared with anger (sounded like movies I've seen of the French revolutionaries at the the gates of Versailles) and started waving shoes. These stories swirling around about Mubarak going to resign, army takes over, have as of now been shown to be BS. He talked to the crowd in a patronizing tone, saying he was speaking as a father to his children.

4. He owns property in Beverly Hills? I really haven't learned enough
about him to know if that is true.

At least he will be spending his $ in the USA, then.

But actually, I wonder if that's going to look good in the eyes of the world. The USA harboring this tyrant? Well, we harbor George W Bush, so I guess it won't matter.

5. We should not forget that it was a big mistake to take the Shah of Iran
in. He has house elsewhere he can live in.

12. It was an even bigger mistake to
take out Mossadegh, who was democratically elected and put the Shah in power IMHO.
