Rage Against The Machine Guitarist Tom Morello Coming To Wisconsin: 'Madison Is The Next Cairo'

MADISON, WIS. - For the past week, the protests outside of the Wisconsin statehouse have had a background soundtrack of Bruce Springsteen, Journey and even the Beastie Boys blasting from speakers as marchers walk around chanting "Kill the bill!" and "Recall Walker!" But on Monday, Madison will get some live music -- a concert headlined by Tom Morello, the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine.

For nearly a decade, Morello has also been playing political folk music -- inspired by people like Woodie Guthrie and Mother Jones -- under the alias The Nightwatchman. On his Facebook page, fans had been urging him to come out and support them in Madison before he made his announcement.

3. Does Tom practice what he preaches?
I wonder though, if Tom and his bands only play venues that are strictly union. Not aying he does or not and I would love to know, but......(and I know that it would increase the ticket price)

I know that there is a war of sorts going on now with Another Planet Entertainment (former Bill Graham staffers), who is now using non union staff at the BGCC. Up until NYE, they had always been union there. I have to imagine this is going on all over the country, so I do ask, Tom, do you use union venues?

And if you support the union members who lost there jobs in SF tell Another Planet that you will not attend any shows using Non union personnel.

5. Dude,. take care of yourself, and don't preach at others.., please.
The guy flew all the way to Wisconsin to take part in the demonstrations and speak out for peoples rights to collectively bargain, and organize themselves in unions. Do you only ever purchase union made goods, and only ever eat union made foods, or ever use unionized services?? Everyone is a hypocrite, it is impossible not to do things you may rather not, or things you even disagree with, from time to time however, when someone speaks out, and tells their opinion of what they believe is best, you need not hold their every action to this standard, as it is impossible to live up to for any of us. :eyes:
You still can speak about what is best practices even if you are not always able to comply with them,. . how else to we make things better??

6. Sorry but I ahve a number of friends that are not working at that venue (and others)
due to them becoming non union. So the issue concerns me. And as someone who goes to a LOT of shows, I wonder. He may well insist, I don't know.

I am not busting his balls, but I am asking a question here. And when I see a band like FURTHUR (who as the Grateful dead were strongly union) going the other way I have to wonder.
