1. Beautiful song. I just heard of Josh White this morning.

He was described as a singer of early protest folk songs along with Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, and others. He was investigated during the McCarthy years, and spent years in Europe until that era died down. I love his voice.

And here's some more of Josh...this time singing "Strange Brew"(also written by "Lewis Allan", which, by the way, was the pen name of Abel Meeropol, a radical songwriter and poet and, IIRC, blacklist victim himself)who may be better known today for adopting the sons of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg after their parents were murdered by the U.S. government in 1953) :

He got the name "Lewis Allan" by combining the first names of his own sons, both of whom had died in childhood.

3. History Detectives: Someone had a guitar purported to have been owned by Josh White.

The show researched to determine provenance, and in the process told a little of his life story. The guitar was actually made for White. His son was interviewed; he is a musician also. (or at least plays the guitar).
