sure yeah over the top and no it's probably not likely to really destroy the world - but there are massive problems with a thing such as facebook - and the ability to be monitored on there is just one part of it. how many people do you know get in fights over stupid shit on facebook?

how much do you have to worry about offending some of the people who are your ""friends"" on facebook?

so does facebook make you more conservative by way of you censoring yourself due to the possiblity of a ""friend"" on facebook being offended?

how often do you censor yourself on facebook for fear of what someone at work might see/say?

did you sign up for facebook with your real name? wow - why would you do that - did you use your real name here? i'm betting 95% of DU did not.

who knows, maybe it won't destroy the world, maybe having all that private info with your real name in a predatory capitalist society is actually a good thing. ha. i guess what i'm saying is - there are a LOT of fucking problems with facebook.
