President Obama is scheduled to speak to the nation tonight, and experts are predicting that he is going to attempt to sell the public on a war in Libya. But as Mike Papantonio points out on The Ed Schultz Show, the American public is already suffering from “war fatigue” and won’t support US troops hitting the ground in Libya.

In principle I'm not as opposed to intervention in Libya as I was to invading Iraq in 2003. I'm certainly not driving around with a big America flag flying on my pickup truck though. And this thing could lose my support very quickly if we start sending in ground forces.

I'm already teetering since I hear we've been using depleted uranium munitions on this supposedly humanitarian operation. Didn't they see how it fucked up the Iraqis in the southern desert after the first Gulf War? That shit should be banned and it should be a war crime to use it. As horrible as poison gas is, at least it dissipates after a few hours. Depleted uranium irradiates the landscape for centuries. The Libyans who are cheering us today will despise us 10 years from now when their kids are being born with cancer.
