GOPers Demand Sean Duffy Salary Tape Be Pulled From The Internet

First the Republican Party in Polk County, Wisconsin, pulled the

tape of Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) fretting about making ends meet on

his $174,000 a year salary from its own website. Now they want it

gone from the whole Internet.

For a couple hours, the local county GOP was successful. But we've

put an excerpt of the video back up.

A day after TPM posted the video we obtained of Duffy talking about

his salary at a Polk County town hall meeting earlier this year,

the Polk County GOP contacted the video provider we used to host

the video, Blip.tv, and demanded the video be taken down.

The tape caused a stir for Duffy, a first-term conservative best

known for his past as a reality TV show star on MTV's The Real

World. Democrats flagged the comments about his taxpayer-funded

salary (which is nearly three times the median income in Wisconsin)

and criticisms began to flow Duffy's way.

1. Chicago city council members get $120,000 a year and there
are 50 of them and many of them have other jobs as lawyers or businessmen. One freshman councilman is giving back half his salary.

2. That puts him in the top 5% of wage earners.
According to IRS figures from 2008, the lower 50% by AGI (Adjusted Gross Income, bottom line on first page of 1040) came in under $33,048. So he makes 5 times what the bottom 50% make. The bottom 75% have AGI's under $67,280. The bottom 90% have AGI's under $113,799. That does not include wealth owned or controlled. You know the poor people in the bottom 50% don't own much.

The income distribution in America has become wildly skewed. The wealth distribution even more so.

9. And he wants to cry about how much bigger his debts are to this guy who is now driving a bus because
he can't find work in his construction trade. Poor little thing, I'm sure he has more in investments and stolen money from his campaign since he claims to have gone without a salary for 7 months just where did he get the money for travel, mortgage, minivan and so on?

3. And if he has trouble making ends meet on that salary, he's no damn good with money.
A guy that bad with money management should not have the power to make decisions on spending our tax dollars.

5. In all fairness,
he does have to maintain two residences. And that ain't cheap if one is in DC.

8. Right, I thought they were all deficit hawks, if he's running those large deficits in his own budget
either stop having kids or take a course in accounting or something.

4. is he a state rep? if so, did he vote to strip rights? because as a DA
wouldn't he fall have fallen under the public workers? and if so, then he benefited from the system. i mean he was talking about paying into retirement and his insurance being completely paid. how much did he make as a DA, because at $174k, even if he had to put in up to 5% himself how much would that be.... and he'd even get matching funds up to that point. so his 5% would be how much more than someone making $40k a year!! give me a fucking break. it's rough... all those student loans.... try paying those on $40k.... ASSHOLE!!

6. The GOP can be idiots...
Once a video is posted, you cannot remove it totally from the Internet if it wants to be posted. When will these folks ever learn about offshore hosting. Granted, this video isn't as important as governmental atrocities worldwide that TPTB want to censor, but really.

Ask the RIAA and MPAA how that turned out?

7. Exactly, that's what pissed me off, they are so Authoritarian and when I saw them trying to scrub it
that made me want to post it all the more. I can't stand those people anymore. And what they're trying to do to this country....... Ugh!
