Ex pharma Rep speaks out about Pharma and their real motivations and lack there of to cure , heal and care for you or your best interests. Only to cure the space in their pockets not yet filled with your cash.

1. Just take a stroll down the OTC medicine aisle

in an ordinary grocery store. Count the various pain relievers, cough and cold and allergy options. Did anyone really think that cash cow would be sacrificed on the altar of curing even the common cold? And that's just the 'cheap' stuff. Extrapolate that into the prescription arena and anyone can see the truth.

2. Hell, just watching one of the Ads is enough for me. Most of them carry more side effects than the..

.. "cure." That right there is so insane that it should be common sense that they aren't trying to cure you, but to get you on more meds to treat the side effect of other meds.

Wasn't one of the reasons why tobacco ads were banned because they cause DEATH? If that is the case, WHY are drugs that list death as a side effect being aired?

Any way they can make a profit, is the bottom line. I used to work in Corporate Finance at a mega pharmaceutical.

4. I spent 13 months on anti-depressants

When I told the shrink they were making me worse she recommended I up the dosage. A couple of years after I got myself off them (no thanks to the shrink- I started breaking my pills in half, then taking halves every other day) there was this report on TV about how certain anti depressants -including the one I was on (Paxil) were causing teenagers to commit suicide.

Well I'll be dipped in dogshit. For a moment I almost wished I was still seeing the shrink- just to see what she had to say for herself.

6. Of course they don't want their pills to cure us!

Because if they did that, then how could they turn around and sell us even more poisons pills and potions if the crap they're selling in the first place cured us? Duh!

Actually I suppose we should be in awe of how exacting they've developed their poisons pills and potions science which can take us all the way to the brink of death and leave us hanging there -- and yet we're still strong enough to go out to work everyday to get more money to buy more of their poisons pills and potions.

From the adulterated and oil-soaked food we eat, to the fertilizer, BPA chemically-tainted water we drink (and let's not forget the irradiated air we have to breathe) -- all the way to the poisons pills and potions we wash down to cure us of all this crap, they got us covered.

- Like a miasma of death.......

9. A lot of people have chronic conditions that cannot be cured

like rheumatoid arthritis and AIDS. I guess drug companies shouldn't try to help those people feel better.

And while science hasn't found a cure for many cancers, we have found methods to slow the growth of tumors and prevent them from metastasizing. Drug companies have even found ways to provide palliative relief for many of the most painful symptoms of cancers, like swollen spleens.

For things that can be cured by eating a little pill a few times, like bacterial infections, drug companies do provide that, too.

I'm not saying that drug companies aren't run by scummy MBA types who just want to suck as much cash out of their fellow human beings as they can, especially when they are sick. And I want drug research to be funded in fundamentally different ways that doesn't make it so mercenary. But the profit motive does provide a lot of relief for people who would otherwise be suffering much more. And if we get some socialized medicine in this country, people could get more access to it, which would be great.
