Jeremy Scahill, an investigative journalist & author of “Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army” said there is a consistent US policy of supporting dictators as long as they are doing the bidding of the United States.
__________

Jeremy Scahill: The Obama Doctrine Is No Different From Bush's
April 1, 2011

Scahill says that “the Bush administration created this theory that the world is a battlefield” and it therefore follows that the US can strike anywhere it sees a threat. The Obama Administration has not challenged this “theory,” and has authorized a fair amount of covert violent actions.

1. This should delight the DUers who felt that Libya should not be our only focus.
Happy now, folks?

4. Why should this delight
anyone at all? The suggestion is beyond insulting. In other Nations we are funding and arming corrupt regimes, in Libya we are trying to put an end to one - though it is likely that another will shortly spring up in it's place.

Hell no I'm not happy - and Libya should NOT be our only focus. We have no right to claim the moral high ground in that situation while we are at the same time arming and empowering other vicious and brutal dictators. That is not me saying we should not be involved in Libya - frankly I think we need to put the mad dog down, but I do not trust our government's or our military leadership's motives here, nor should anyone else who is paying attention.

Now, did you want an honest response or were you just trying to stir the pot? Are YOU happy now?

5. that's an odd response to this excellent interview
as if anyone, and I mean ANY ONE PERSON would be "happy" wrt how this is going down in Lybia, need to get their head examined.

the details of events not withstanding, this outcome as things stand at the moment, should have been predictable. It isn't a matter to be gloating over. my god.

2. We get the tab!
War is a racket. It is good business to those who put profit as the only worthy goal in this world.

I wonder how many people who work hard and actually pay taxes, (unlike the deadbeat rich and their corporate veils) can almost feel the weight, the incredible burden that multinational corporations and big banks, (in collusion with governments and officials of all types and parties) have placed directly on their backs. It is a crushing, grievous weight that increases greatly with time. It will continue to do so.

For the informed and perceptive, that weight is not just about the massive, (astronomical) amounts of commons, (tax money, privatization, lands, etc.) that are doled-out to the biggest, fattest, most influential and dominant companies and their owners. It is about another metaphor, as well; one that reaches far into our collective future.

A pestilence of financial locusts is swarming across the globe and eating everything it is allowed to. From farmland grabs to resource battles, through education systems, eco-systems, local economies and whatever else we share on this planet of limited supplies, they are buying our world out from under us and devouring everything in their path while we watch, shocked and still held liable to contribute our "fair share" to the legalities of a corrupted system.

We are currently financing our own destitution and destruction, as we notice that what was once a more distributed plural form of economies becoming a rigidly-enforced binary, financial future. You will either be wealthy in a liquid sense, or you will be a Serf who struggles in the Underclass with no security or certainty at all, existing as nothing more valuable or meaningful than being a resource in service of your Corporate Veil Lords.

The more we know, the more we might consider our contributions and complacency in this endgame process. There are other ways to live and there are radical ways to pull-out of this mess before we hit the wall of no return.
