1. When they put the term "Asshole" in the Dictionary Brit Hume should be the picture above. |
|
Have I told you how much I loath Mr Hume today?

There was any number of stupid conservative excuses Hume could have given to Williams on that point. I'm surprised he either wasn't aware of any excuses or just spaced out.

3. IF one can believe their on-screen presences |
|
it's concludable there's alot of things the two aren't "aware" of. But I could go with the "spaced out" assessment too!

7. Anchorman interviewing Anchorman as a source - that is weird |
|
Humes only credential is that when Sam Donaldson (ABC) gave Reagan a little bit too much trouble ABC replaced Sam with Brit Hume (that is true).
The fact that we have opinion providers asked questions as journalists is bizarre. But then we live in a media bubble.
AlJazeera? Can't have that Japan NHK? We got 2 days of their coverage on Verizon MSNBC has to have Joe on so people don't have something other than the status quo story to repeat around the watercooler
We live in a bubble.

4. This is part of the overall problem of TV news nowadays. |
|
They have a panel of 3+ people and they are doing 5 minute clips on all of the world's problems. There is no time for thoughtful reflection, just sound bites. Hume is an asshat, but can we chastise him for not having a cogent answer in 2 seconds? It speaks a lot about our society's values. we prefer speed over substance, shock over thought, talking points over reflection. Rachel Maddow is better than most, and I don't watch Sunday news shows, because it is more an ego-fest than anything.

but he has cookiecutter talking points for everything. He was not ready, as a professional, to anything other than another voice in the choir.

5. Juan left him without words ... |
|
and when I watched the incident on TV, I felt that Juan had scored a direct hit and Bret Hume was thinking, "Juan's right. How can anyone defend GE avoiding taxes?"

10. NO NO NO it is very simple |
|
you add a second and third step by not taxing them but taking a leap of faith that they will kick every dollar back into the economy...our economy
Actually that is 4 or 5 leaps of faith. None of which haved exhibited themselves to be true in the 30 years of running under Friedman/Reagan's "ideas".

12. baldguy, there you go again -- making sense. |
|
Now you know that Fox News does not tolerate news or opinion that makes sense.
The converse is also true: You cannot increase tax revenue by taxing only the people who have very little money.
