Chuck Canterbury, national president of the Fraternal Order of Police, talks with Rachel Maddow about the betrayal felt by police and firefighters who feel attacked by Republicans they have traditionally supported, and the electoral price Republicans are likely to pay for this betrayal.

The Rachel Maddow Show.

2. I'm baffled as to why policemen and firefighters would ever
have supported Republicans, knowing they are anti-union. Now, they're finally learning? Americans might finally wake up and realize just how much the Republicans are stripping away so many things we hold near and dear, but I fear it will be way too late.

3. The reason this is all coming to a head now is that the GOP
is DETERMINED to take back the WH in 2012. One of the their strategies is to bust the unions because they are one of the few entities that provides any money or muscle to Democratic candidates. They are the one unified voting block that most often reliably votes for Democrats. The GOP is organized and on a mission. Americans, in typical fashion, are incapable of pulling back the curtain or connecting the dots when it comes to Republican misdeeds. When they finally catch on, it's too late. Or when the same issues resurface, they forget, just like they've already forgotten the Bush years, and how the Republicans are largely responsible for one of the biggest economic crises in this country.

4. Cry me a river. I have little sympathy for them. They danced with the devil, now they can pay.

This phony said that the Republican Party has been taken over by radical right wingers. Bull crap. He didn't have a word to say when Republicans voted time after time against unions but excluded them from their hatred. Reminds me of the "then they came after me..." Screw him and the horse he rode in on.

6. I guess the FOP got what it voted for when it put its power behind the GOP.
