Said hero being frank Zappa, who was the idol of my long ago youth. In the context of the facebook uprisings in Egypt and elsewhere, Frank’s initial comments below are quire prescient, aren’t they? Especially if you're Hosni Mubarik or Moamar the K.

The money quotes below start at approximately 7:00 minutes in.

“It always amazes me that when a government is formed and they have all these computes and they have smart people working for them to figure out things to do and how to organize stuff. That they always forget the kids they always forget. They forget how much energy they have and they forget how much damage they can do. When you forget the kids your government is in danger because the kids can suddenly give you a big surprise.

It seems the problem with government as an institution is uniformly bad worldwide It may be the only thing that binds all nations together is the incompetence of all of their governments. Its not that they make you think they don’t know what they’re talking about,. They don’t know what they’re talking about. And that’s the problem with Amiercan politics because qualified people don’t run it usually. The Unions are the Mafia which is the CIA which is the Catholic Church which is the government which is, what’ the difference its corrupt. It’s the same guys pulling these strings, y’know one day he pulls the string and this lamp comes out the next say he pulls the string and there’s a missile that comes out.”

Some from part 4:

“If there is a God he really fucked up when he made people. ......... The (human) species will obliterate itself and the world will once again be safe for cockroaches and moths.”

Enjoy!

2. Frank Zappa was taken from us much too soon.
He came to Richmond in the 1988 when I was living there. Unfortunately I was had no money for a ticket, so I missed my chance to see him- much as I wanted to. In hindsight it would have been an even bigger deal to have gone, since he was diagnosed with cancer in 1990.

3. ahhhh the 88 tour!
That tour was magic for me, because he had not toured for four years. I went to the first show of the tour in Albany and it was a spiritual experience for me. There was a 60 minutes crew there, possibly because frank had the league of women voters at all his shows to get people to register to vote! they never aired any zappa show, however. I think righties do not allow the league of women voters to do voter registrations anymore. just another piece of their Rovian anti-democracy tactics they have been so effective at for the last thirty years.

I also went to 5 or 6 other shows, culminating in the Nassau Coliseum Show, which had Dweezil playing onstage with his dad. Moon was there, too. Got to meet Eric Buxton, a super fan that did Ike's monologue for "Jesus thinks you're a jerk"

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/f/frank+zappa/jesus+thinks+youre+a+jerk_20056591.html. monologue starts at "Imagine if you will" accompanied by the Twilight Zone theme.

I got to meet and chat with Ike Willis at a show in Teaneck NJ last Feb. He told me Frank went to FOUR DOCTORS for his prostate. It was the fifth one that found it, too late. Ike got a call from Frank mid 1993 "Hey, Ike, I think I'm gonna beat this. I want to out a 20th anniversary of 200 motels tour and get Flo and Eddie." 6 months later he was taken from us.

I think what he said above about kids is really spot on given the popular uprisings this year in the middle east.
