I don't know about 40 troops being killed but this sure reminds me of the way we helped defeat the Soviets there!

1. They used the same, exact same, methods to attack the Soviets. It's chilling to watch.

Seriously. I have seen this exact same video years ago, footage from the Soviets getting themselves slaughtered from the hills. The footage follows the same eery scene selection. Instead of Soviet APC's getting blown up on the windy roads, it's American humvees. Instead of a Russian Hind coming in to break shit up, it's an America F-16(?).

Just chilling. Talk about history repeating itself!

2. What is truly amazing is that the Afghanis have

effectively used the same strategies to repel invaders for centuries. Today they simply have more modern weaponry. Many of the tactics used to defeat the British and Soviets are still being used.

When I was young and silly, I would watch these videos of heroic young Mujahideen warriors fighting our war against the communist Russians and think they were our saviors doing our dirty work.

Who were the first people we targeted in the first salvos of the Al Queda/Taliban/Mineral rights and Pipeline route War- the very same people. We trained them, and then we armed them, and still we continue to die by them. On a brighter note, it will only cost you your retirement savings and your grandkids future.

The f#$king war is not winnable. What would we be calling the Soviets if they were doing what the USA was doing for the Afghans in the 80s? Unfortunately our leaders such as Bush and Obama and their progeny never ever face the hell that they send other young people to fight.
