What's up with Guantanamo and all those mean ol' terrorists? See what sort of justice now awaits them, thanks to Obama and his political tap dance!

A Mark Fiore political animation.

1. Obama and his DoJ supporting Tribunals and rigged trials
is absolutely disgusting, offensive and cowardly. :grr:

This is now "restoring respect for the rule of law."

This is just one more very big example of the Obama administration caving in to the republican framing of every damned issue, caving in to what republicans want, supporting and continuing GWB's policies as his own and claiming it's a good idea, breaking election promises and moving to the far right.

Damn it, he has caved in to republicans so damned often and given them so much of what THEY want that he should change parties and admit that he's a Republican President!

He sure as hell isn't representing Democratic ideas, goals, or values. x(

5. It appears that you still seem to think there are two parties
Think again.

There is only one party, and they are called the Powers That Be (PTB), a shadowy cabal of whatever that seems to be able to dictate policy without ever leaving the smoke filled back room.

I remember when Republicans actually made sense

I also remember a time when the Democrats did as well.

Now, all we have is a Yankee Bean Suprise that has been macerated into a greyish paste. The people that represent us do not care for anything but the paycheck they receive, and the spotlight that shines on them, which is all illusionary, and simply is there to convince them of their importance.

Obama is a stooge in a long line of stooges.

6. Mostly true.
Especially since Clinton made the deliberate decision that the entire party would steer a course to rely upon corporate funding instead of donations and fund-raising from labor as the primary source of money for the party. It used to be that the Republicans out-raised Democrats by wide margins. He changed that. Now Democrats could take money that used to go to Republicans, but the cost of that was that Democrats had to Become Republicans.

And Clinton was fine with this. The idea of Democrats stealing issues from Republicans and making them Democratic issues instead was the whole core of his political philosophy of triangulation. It gave rise to the ConservaDems that have taken over the party. The Blue Dogs. The DLC. The so-called-Moderates who might as well be Republicans.

Most of the Democratic Party at this point really is indistinguishable from Republicans at this point. They take money from the same corporations, meet with the same lobbyists, follow the same "requests" from those lobbyists to move issues that are dear to corporate interests, at our expense.

But despite that, there are still a few real Democrats left in the party. There are still a few progressives and/or liberals and die-hard supporters of traditional Democratic platform issues. They are mostly unsupported without the party, and given very little ability to accomplish anything significant. But they haven't yet been entirely purged.

Mostly, I think, because their presence is valuable for Public Relations reasons. Token lefties in the party can be used to create the fake image that the party is still a lefty party, and still cares about people, even when that's just smoke and mirrors generated by expensive consultants. The party won't get rid of our lefties entirely as long as they still have some cynical use for fooling Americans.

But as long as they are there, that means there is also still some hope of us taking back the party from the inside. We still have a place inside the party. It hasn't been taken from us entirely. Not yet.
