By firmly planting his flag on the right-wing birther conspiracy, real estate mogul Donald Trump is single-handedly driving a deep wedge into the Republican party. His improbable popularity in the polls has motivated some high-profile Republicans to jump on the birther bandwagon while leaving others fighting to deny him any future relevance. President Bush’s former adviser Karl Rove let Fox News On The Record host Greta Van Susteren know last Friday that he falls squarely into the second camp. Utterly aghast at his full-time peddling of the birther conspiracy, Rove labeled him the “joke candidate” of “the nutty right” who will never be elected by Republicans or the American people:

VAN SUSTEREN: I don’t agree with Donald Trump on this. I’ll say it right from the get-go. But does this hurt the Republican Party?

ROVE: Well, it hurts Donald Trump and it removes — he was an interesting candidate who had a business background and could have contributed to the dialogue. But his full embrace of the birther issue means that he’s off there in the nutty right and is now an inconsequential candidate. I’m shocked. The guy’s smarter than this. And you know, the idea that President Obama was not born in Hawaii, being — you know, making that the centerpiece of his campaign, means that he’s just a joke candidate. Let him go ahead and announce for election on “The Apprentice.” The American people aren’t going to be hiring him, and certainly, the Republicans are not going to be hiring him in the Republican primary.

7. Rove is a war criminal
He should be confined like Hannibal Lector was in "Silence of the Lamb" and sent to the Hague.

This doesn't mean much but, compared to Palin, Donald is an Einstein and compared to Cheney, Donald is Mother Theresa. Unlike Bush, Donald doesn't claim he is receiving divine inspiration and have God whispering in his ear.

9. I would bet if you gave Donald Trump the power...
He would be as bad or worse than Cheney...This guy is a total NUT! Have you heard him talk about taking Iraq's Oil & attacking OPEC countries if they do not do what we say? I sure hope Karl & others are correct in saying the American people will not elect Trump but I have seen how Americans flock to AUTHORITARIAN Candidates who talk all tough & act as if America can & should do whatever it is we want to anyone we want! SCARY!

10. hmm...
Americans may "flock to AUTHORITARIAN Candidates," but we may never know if our populace actually elected Bush, or if a computer programmer's illicit code elected him.

11. Well, what about the point that if Trump gets elected...
He could be more dangerous than Cheney! This man has been saying things Bush/Cheney would never say...And if folks give him power for saying these things then I think we will see Bush & Cheney look like peace lovers!

15. hmm...
I did not refute that, nor did my comment in any way minimize your concern about Trump as a candidate.

8. Turd Blossom is Sore Loser
Rove knows his money backers cannot manipulate Trump so he is doing his best to throw him to the wolves. Probably wont work though as Trump is not saying anything different than the rest of the GOP loonies like Palin. If Rove wants Trump out, he will have to buy him out.
