Fox News host Glenn Beck has some strange ideas about food price inflation. Michael Shure, Ben Mankiewicz and Wes Clark break it down.

1. Cows. Eat. Grass!
Stick to this ideal, and we will all be better off.

4. Maybe in your world view;
Cows eat grass. These are the ones you pass in a pastoralial setting driving along a country road heading to grandma's. However, in the massive truck farms where there are a hundred thousand cows penned up never to take a step, these cows are fed corn, animal waste and injected with a witch's brew of chemicals.

Corn has not gone up very much because the American farmers have switched so much farm land to the production of corn. This has taken away the area devoted to other cash crops leading to an increase of overall food prices. The reason butter and milk have gone up is that the corn is used to burn in our cars not to feed the cows.

Another major reason for food increases is Monsanto. Don't get me started on this pile of shit for a company.

6. Worked in the dairy industry
as an equipment salesman for 10 years. You are speaking the truth.

Free stall barns are huge operations and the feed is usually a combination of corn, hay and god knows what else. Most dairy farmers claim they don't use BGH but I think they do just to survive.

5. not a good segment-- the hosts do little in the way of providing facts
and Beck isn't totally off base that biofuels can lead to higher food prices, just that it's a lot more complicated than he could/would ever present on his show.
