Just how long does this kind of injustice keep pushing itself into the lives of people who have to struggle more and more each coming day.

First you loose your job, and somehow, there is NO ONE to bail you out of this. You have a child. Is that supposed to be some kind of crime?

What the hell can you do for that child but try to guide his education while trying to survive? You and I'd do anything we could to see that chance happening.

has always gone something like this: If you put poor kids in school they cost money and benefit little from the time and expenditure. The compassionate course of action is to put them to work. They can then contribute to the economy by reducing labor costs, by making money for their employers, by making money for their families and by not wasting years of their lives filling their heads with knowledge they're too stupid to understand anyway. :smoke:

Bankruptcy Laws just before the "great Recession" (a Depression that is poised to get worse because "we" passed no laws to prevent it, Purposely) that are basically just forced indentured servitude. Now, we can not expect to get relief from un-payable debt, maybe a high interest pause in our suffering.
Just imagine if these "laws" were in effect before "The Donald" made (and was able to keep) his Billions. Hell, Bankruptcy was the "Trump Card" he used most frequently to build his "empire" at the expense of so many people who had invested in his schemes.

nor to exist in America much longer, I have no choice but to ask all Americans to please, please, wake-up and take to the streets to get our government for and by the people, back.
Since "they" have returned us to pre-"new deal" living and earning conditions, maybe we can at least demand that we return to an immediate post-"new deal" society.
Maybe even consider the "2nd Bill of Rights" that FDR proposed and was able get for the nations we rebuilt after WWII. That is why they mostly continue to prosper and their citizens are treated with respect and sometimes fear.
Those countries still have strong Unions, universal health care, etc....the very things that ALL Americans SHOULD call basic human rights.

23. Push Back

This action needs to be pushed back. Petitions or paying her legal cost isn't enough for this.

1) There is a Federal Law, and funds set aside, to allow her to put that child in that school.
2) The mayor of Norwalk initiated that arrest and 'fine' for her child's 'use' of that school.
3) He MUST know of the law. Based on that - he MUST then know she did not do anything illegal.
4) His dispatching police to arrest her knowing that is therefor filing a false police report.
5) That report resulted in a false arrest, pain and suffering on her part, all was not needed.
6) A false police report causing a false arrest, intentionally, is therefor against the law...
7) His 'dropping charges' or the fine, or a civil financial lawsuit against him, isn't enough.
8) Someone in that town could file charges against him based on that. HE SHOULD BE ARRESTED...
9) They drop the charges if he apologizes, drops everything, reimburses & re-admits the child.

I would go file the charges myself, but I don't live in that town. But someone else can do it.

Tanya McDowell was charged by Norwalk police with first-degree larceny, a felony, and appeared in state Superior Court in Norwalk on April 15. Police said McDowell committed first-degree larceny because enrolling her child cost the city the equivalent of about $15,686—the average annual cost per pupil of education in Norwalk Public Schools in 2010.

The country gives billions to subsidize oil companies, but they can't afford to feed and house a homeless single mother or educate her child?

Michigan is going to turn a first-class school for young mothers and pregnant teens into a charter school...or close it. That's not a good way to balance the budget. Instead, why not rebuild detroit?

32. don't know if anyone saw that hallmark movie last night on cbs... beyond the blackboard.

i missed the beginning but this woman was a teacher in a homeless shelter in the early eighties. She didn't even have books or desks. she ended up going to the superintendent who supplied her with desks, books and other things. While I was watching it I thought about how this is what teachers do on a regular basis and this highlights teachers. Now I think about homeless kids and think of that program. At the end it said this woman got an award for all she did in education. Also that there was a law that allowed homeless kids to enroll in the schools.

First of all, I am sure this woman didn't know there was a law regarding where she could enroll her kid. Secondly, 20 years!! wtf is that!! that is totally ridiculous.
