2. To understand this...you got to know this..

Johnathan Swift wrote the original Modest Proposal about 300 years ago...1729..
Swift called it this:

"For Preventing The Children of Poor People in Ireland
From Being Aburden to Their Parents or Country, and
For Making Them Beneficial to The Public "

Here are two links to explain it..
the first is the acutal essay..a must read if you are not familiar with this.. Modest Proposal
The second is a simple and quick explaination of the first.

This terrific Olbermann commentary cannot be appreciated unless one reads number one.
Sure it is a 10 minute read, but it is worth it.

Swifts brilliant essay is one of the greatest satrical moments in all of the English language.

I remember reading this in college, and wondering what the hell is he writing about, then we discussed it at length, and I understood how Swift was attacking the ruling class of idiots and fools in his time.

Exuse me for assuming the teacher role:
I am retired, but cannot stop....it what it is..
...thank you for your consideration..If you want, I can show you my briss certificate..
still got it....
Oh and more..
...Olbermann called it "A Modest Proposal" in homage and repect for this Swift essay.. and the art of "satire"
Calling it this, assumes you know the background of this title, and have some knowlege of the original essay.

Note: It is about halfway through that Swift makes his Modest Proposal..
Note: It is about halfway through that Olbermann makes his Modest Proposal..(about 3 minutes into...the 5:38 minute video...)
....now...do you think that is a mistake?....

.thank you again.

Good Night and Good Luck.

Stuart G.

I propose that we also sell the Chinese Florida, Georgia,Alabama,Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky,Indiana,Oklahoma, Iowa,Wyoming,Kansas and Utah, along with portions of Ohio,Wisconsin and the Dakotas Then these states would have everything they want. No more unions, regulations on banks or industry, no more food safety or EPA, no more "handouts or entitlements and full employment mandatory at 25 cents an hour and 80-100 hour per week. They could even get an early start at saving for their old age as they would be chained to a work station in some sweat shop by the time they were 5 years old. It would be a blast to see these ass clowns get the full measure of everything they vote for. It would be amusing to see what they think of true socialism and communism since they are convinced that democrats want to "run" their lives and "destroy" their freedoms. While we are at it I would also propose leasing Texas to Mexico and Alaska back to Russia(hell if Russia invades they have an early warning system, Sara can see them from her house and they can escape by hopping on the bridge to nowhere) until we figure out a mutually beneficial plan for all three countries. There budget balanced, debt paid the nut jobs in these states no longer have to except the "Kenyon" as their leader and the states inhabited by sane individuals can get back to the business of fixing the mess the repukes have spent 30 years creating. Oh and good luck to the first ass wipe that demands to see the birth certificate of any Chinese leader.Or bitches about their religion being attacked, the liberal state controlled media, or their voice not being heard. That one I'd pay money to see. Here's your freedom. How's that working for ya?

5. That was..
Terrible!!! I love the Idea.. The only problem is that the Chinese know we're hot to sell, so they'll lowball us to death..But at least the People's Republic of Arizona can start living up to all those unfulfilled political aspirations..
