4. Better definition than 'Twister.' Well done, even if they were crazy. Glad to see it. Thanks. |

6. Mother Nature at her most awesome. |
|
Looks like she's really Pissed Off...furious.
The driver did a good job paying attention to the driving, and keeping an open escape route. Looks like Tuscaloosa is a huge Big Box Parking Lot.
Both the driver and videographer demonstrated extreme vocal discipline. I would have been screaming.
The Stabilizing Program did a superb job making this video watchable.
Storm Chasers are crazy, but I do love the videos.
My heart goes out to those who were in the path of this storm.

7. I have chased a few tornadoes in my time |
|
None of them even approaching this kind of devastating horror...but I have noticed that while filming a tornado it is nearly impossible to hand-hold the camcorder steady. It's like the tornado doesn't want to be documented. THIS guy, though...he was way too close. He got RFD-blasted at the end. It was an interesting video because it showed some really unique structure. The horizontal vortices were interesting, this was no doubt a massive multiple-vortex tornado. Most wide, destructive tornadoes are...it's not the single circulation that does the damage, it's the numerous subvortices that measure tens of meters across that rotate around the parent circulation that really make these tornadoes destructive and unpredictable as to where the damage will be worst. They can be beautiful...when they pass through empty prairie and don't do any damage to anyone. This outbreak was just...awful. I know some people who chased these storms and they cut their chase short to help people in need. I don't ever want to find myself (or anyone else) near anything like this.
