This video, shot earlier this year, gives a glimpse of just how far we have to go before cleanup efforts are complete. And with each passing day, the chances fade that BP will ever fully restore our marshes, waters or shoreline as debris and waste blend further into the landscape. Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean.

3. Bubbas and lawyers
The links at the end are all to lawyer websites, drawn to the oil spill like flies to horse manure. Lawyers have never, ever, solved a problem caused by technology; all they do is argue about who is going to pay for it afterward.

The solution to the problem, collecting up the mess and aerating it so that bacteria and fungi can metabolize the oil is exactly what won't get done, because for a while it would be unsightly. The solution adopted by BP and tacitly approved by the US government agencies involved is to cover it over so it won't be seen. Unfortunately, covering it over increases the time to break it down, probably by orders of magnitude. The last time some of those oil molecules were covered over and left to sit without being metabolized was back in the Permian or Cretaceous periods.

4. Embarassing from my standpoint...
The USCG is responsible for making sure this doesn't happen. But it appears that as soon as the cameras were gone they left. I was in GI from May 11-26 before any pom poms were thrown out. The should never have been used like that.

5. It's Louisiana, who give a shit?
No one's going to do anything but rec these stories to about 8-15 recs, then they'll die quietly along with our residents.
