"Dr. Jack Kevorkian, the well-known advocate of physician-assisted suicide, died at a hospital in Michigan Friday. Kevorkian spoke with the NewsHour's Robert MacNeil on June 6, 1990, after his first highly publicized encounter with Janet Adkins of Portland, Ore. Kevorkian describes the details of the procedure he used that ultimately led to Adkins' death and his motivation for performing it." --PBS YouTube summary

1. It is unfortunate that he became the face of the assisted suicide movement.
I believe he set the movement back for decades.

2. What?
There was no assisted suicide movement prior to the courageous Dr. Kevorkian. He was exactly what any movement requires, a person with a passion to do the right thing, no matter what the cost. Dr. Kevorkian is a hero. He made everyone know that he could offer an alternative to an awful, painful, stretched out years of dying because some nut that thinks God communicates with him says so. If Obama had one iota of the courage of Dr. Kevorkian, we would have the single payer option.
