"A series of U.S. drone attacks have reportedly killed at least sixteen people in Pakistan. Washington has kept up the unmanned air strikes, despite a recent declaration from the Pakistani Parliament calling for their end. But with the U.S. government eyeing heavy investment in drone technology, Americans fear they could soon find themselves beneath a steel sky."

Americans are not being allowed to hear about the resentment being generated by drone strikes that kill civilians. Now these drones are coming home to spy on American citizens! Will you wake up some day in a sci-fi police state?

3. I couldn't find any kind of evidence to support Mr. Whitehead's statement that...
insect-sized Pentagon drones were spying on protestors in 2007.

The fact that some people thought it was happening can't be considered evidence.

Some people think God, their dog, or AT&T is speaking inside their heads.

Making unfounded claims not only does nothing to advance the cause of the protection of civil liberties, it is actually counterproductive.

4. Russia Today?
Meh... No thanks. I'll wait for confirmation from Alex Jones, the North Korea Gazette, or the Mahmoud News Network before judging all this.

Seriously, you must be joking. Did you even watch this propagandic drivel before posting it here?

More on the joke that is RT, which Media Matters calls a "Kremlin-backed, 9-11 conspiracy news org":

6. Gosh...
So, the fact that this report was aired on Russia Today negates the validity of this information?

I think you might be motivated to explore other sources to substantiate or refute this report. I did, and I can assure you the Mr. Federmann of Federmann Enterprises, Ltd. is poised to make beaucoups money from this drone technology.

To answer your first question.

I won't even bother refuting the report because I don't consider it to be a reliable one, given  source on which it appears.

By the way, I don't have knee-jerk reactionary opposition to this technology (and the developers of it), especially since it's proven to be effective at targeting scumbags and preventing us from having to put more "boots on the ground."

8. Yes,
clearly, you support the massacre of innocent civilians, as long as we can call them 'scumbags,' and target them while sitting safely ensconced behind a computer image, drinking a latte.

9. Clearly...
You enjoy spreading around half-baked fantasy as reality. No surprise you rely on RT for "news".

10. Epic fail.
I don't rely on ANY media as a source of 'news' and I don't discriminate when it comes to recognizing propaganda. We get PLENTY of our own propaganda on such 'stellar' news channels as Fox, CNN, and all the other major US channels.

Dismissing this report as propaganda because it was aired on RT completely obfuscates the FACT that the US has been and continues to be causing multiple civilian casualties in Pakistan with DRONES. I do NOT support this callous and unnecessary aggression. I find it abhorrent and indefensible.

I find it sad that you think dismissing RT as propagandist absolves the US of any responsibility for the drone attacks in Pakistan.

12. RT is a lot more credible than our own media.
It has given a voice eg, to people like Thom Hartman who now has his own show on RT.

They do not silence people the way our MSM does.

We see far more balanced news on the ME eg, here all we get is US propaganda from CNN, Fox et al.

RT is a great news medium. I am very glad we can get it on our cable lineup.

Drones are evil, disgutsing, cowardly weapons and I am so glad to see the question raised about who is selling this evil technology. We certainly won't see it raised here on the MSM.

They are killing beautiful little children almost on a daily basis, despite being asked to stop by both the government of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The increased use of them since Obama took office is simply shameful.

13. You think state-run Russian propaganda is more credible than "our own" independent media outlets...

Just say it... Drones are "evil doers".

All owned by a handful of big media conglomerates! Do you actually believe Fox News is 'independent?'

My God, what some people will believe? :wow:

Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 02:28 PM by jefferson_dem
A clue: Not every media outlet in America is part of a corprate conglomerate, or even a corporate news chain.

"My God, what some people will believe"... so says the poster who relies on RT for "news".
