I suspect that Mr. Watson will continue to be an activist for our planet's fragile ecosystem, since we humans seem oblivious to the consequences of SHITTING all over it.

4. There are plenty of other nations trying to destroy the oceans... |
|
So I don't think they'll have any trouble finding other issues to move on to. Especially as the industrialized nations are more concerned with protecting corporations than stopping environmental destruction. For example, Greenpeace boarded a vessel carrying timber that was harvested in violation of international treaties that was pulling into the port of LA/LB. Who do you think the U.S. Coast Guard went after? Easy Greenpeace. Was the cargo ever investigated? No, that would require work. Dead zones in the ocean, overfishing, destruction of reefs by use of poisons and explosives to fish, I don't think Sea Shepherd will have any problems. Plus since Ecuador can't/won't enforce fishing regulations around the Galapagos, the SSCC is providing patrols in the area. A great group. Soon I'll be able to contribute as I won't have to maintain a security clearance.

They're a true inspiration. There also a reminder to me not to listen to all the whiny-bitch, gutless wimps that have done nothing but bash them while at the same time doing nothing to stop whaling themselves. And yes, there have been plenty of them on this board alone.
Sea Shepard is a textbook case of gutsy direct action and how effective it can be. They risked their lives, they risked prison time, they stood up and got right in the face of those they opposed. And for the moment, they've won. If they had listened to all the cowards out there saying that they were being too confrontational and aggressive, well, whales would still be dying right now.
So cheers to the Sea Shepard, and screw you to all of their wimpy-ass, lie-down-and-take-it detractors.

13. Too many liberals seem to think that the corporations are going to just suddenly stop raping the |
|
planet if we just politely ask them. I remember watching a video of some old hippie lady protesting the G20 saying that she was sending love and good vibes to all the delegates inside, hoping that would cause them to wake up and change their policies.
Liberals need to stop smoking crack on this shit. The powers that be and the forces of the elite wealthy are not going to stop doing what they're doing unless they are FORCED. Sea Shepard understands this. It's war. And it's not always going to be pretty, pleasant, or safe. And there will be causalities along the way. It's either that, or we all die. It's really that simple.
Sea Shepard's tactics are absolutely correct. And regardless of what many say, they ARE non-violent.

9. Paul Watson was part of Greenpeace.. |
|
He wanted more direct action, and said they had degenerated to a debating society on whether or not seals had souls if I remember the quote correctly. So he left to form SSCC. Greenpeace still condemns their actions as too dangerous and life threatening. But again, they are performing a function our navy or coast guard should be doing. The Japanese down there are violating international agreements that have set aside the southern ocean as a whale sanctuary. In other words they are there illegally. Yet you won't see any official agency taking action to stop them. All hail the almighty dollar.
