The Greeks apparently see this whole thing as another means of concentrating wealth into fewer hands, much like the recent U.S. financial crash is doing.
Like the U.S., the financial crises in nations around the world can be resolved with social programs intact. But the uber-wealthy are seizing the opportunity and trying to make a case to use the crises as a means of eliminating social programs and re-directing the money to them.
