6. K&R! Great interview! A true progressive-liberal Democrat! |
|
In my opinion, Kucinich is the only hope for this country. If this country could just dredge-up the wisdom to elect this man, we might just be able to regain our country. He is the only one I feel this way about - all of the other candidates will just be business as usual...

9. There is an important place for DK but not in the white house. |
|
Good ideas, unrealistic. DK has a lot of good ideas. But how many people would have to continue to suffer waiting for his ideas to come fruition.

I'd rather wait for real change. Change that works to make life better over something designed for the interests of the big guys running things.

that would mean that the White House is the best place for him. He's got much better plans than the rest of the candidates, and if he's President he'll be in a much better position to implement them! Go Dennis! :woohoo: http://dennis4president.comChoose Peace

25. A president Kucinich in 2008 = A republican President in 2012 |
|
It is unrealistic to think you can pull out the troops immediately leaving a void that could cause hundreds of thousands their deaths. It will take time to bring together a UN and regional effort to make the environment such that we can thoroughly pull out in a responsible manner.
I would like to hear how DK would convince congress to scrap the current health care system putting thousands of Americans out of work and mothballing hundreds of businesses to make way for a government run health care in 4 years. Social security and Medicare evolved over decades.
DK has proven that he is unwilling to compromise (see SCHIP vote). Because he will not compromise it will result in a doomed Administration. He will become a one-term footnote in history and As a result a republican will be elected in 20012.

Transcript here: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/politics/july-dec07/kucinich_10-04.html~snip~ Under my plan, people have the doctor of their choice, and they're also able to get the care they need. They don't have to worry about losing their homes or going bankrupt as, frankly, half the bankruptcies in America are connected directly to people not being able to pay their hospital bills.
So my plan, which is Medicare for all, where you recognize that the money is already there to provide the care that's needed for people, plus vision care, dental care, mental health care, prescription drugs, and long-term care.See, what's happened is the Democratic Party, we're forgetting who we're supposed to be. We're supposed to be the party of the people. We've become the party of the insurance companies. We've become the party of the oil companies. We've become the party of the arms merchants. And somebody has to stand up and say, "Hey, where are the Democrats? Where are the real Democrats?" And I'm a real Democrat running for president.
JUDY WOODRUFF: You've also said you would have the United States pull out of NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, the World Trade Organization. You've been a vocal critic of globalization. How do you see the United States shifting if none of those trade agreements were in place?
Well, I mean, actually, before NAFTA, we had trade. Before NAFTA, we weren't in the rut that we're in now, which is close to a $850 billion to $900 billion imbalance in our trade.
What I envision is this: Cancel NAFTA and the WTO and have trade that's based on workers' rights, human rights, and environmental quality principles. You lift up the wage levels in the United States and in other countries. You assure that workers have the right to organize, the right to collective bargaining, the right to strike, and all the other rights. No child labor, no prison labor, no slave labor, protection of the air and water.
And this is much more desirable than the conditions we have right now. Judy, I've been all over this country, and I've seen grass growing in parking lots where they used to make steel, where they used to make cars, and washing machines, and bicycles. And now there's grass growing in the parking lots, padlocks on the plant gates.I'm saying: NAFTA is directly responsible for the decline of American manufacturing. I want to restore American manufacturing, actually have an American manufacturing policy where the maintenance of steel, automotive, aerospace, and shipping is seen as vital to our national economic security.~snip~

Abso-fucking-lutely correct, ladies and gentlemen.
Anyone who is filled with "conventional" doubt, should understand a few things, look back in time, but most of all, look progressively FORWARD.
For me, there is no better candidate.

Hillary's money cause if you did you would sweep this people right under the rug, I wonder if he lies awake at night thinking of all the things that could and should be done to heal this country. great interview every time I hear Dennis I smile, and it's been a long time since I've smiled listening to someone who has a concise plan. makes me just shake my head to know there are still some intellect people out there.

22. He's the voice of common sense the world would embrace. |
|
There is no restraint in my support for him. And rightly so. He has not contradicted himself in any way over the years he has been running for president. There is a reason for that. He made the correct decisions. We do not have the convenience of making the same blunders that the Bush administration has made.
Why would you not want Kucinich for president?

Or does the interviewer seem a little bit hostile? I mean, that random quotation from a local paper saying he's an embarassment,...what's the relevance of that? I don't see it. I don't think he has a snowballs' chance, but policy-wise I think he's spot on.

24. If only most Americans believed in democracy... |
|
Then all could vote for sanity. All could vote for the person who speaks to their interests.
Instead of voting strategically we could vote for the one who speaks the words of human to human concern.
The weakest among us could have the strength of the many who support him.
We could stop funding the empire before it crumbles and falls on our heads.
We wouldn't have to go on killing and being killed to only look tough as we weaken and inevitably fail, drop by bloody drop.
But we don't believe in democracy. We know this country can only produce an ever declining series of moral incompetents. We only believe in the inevitability of tyranny and its evils. We laugh at peace and show reverence to war.
We get the leaders we deserve.
