The Dayton Informer spoke with Dayton Citizen Kevin Young, who approached us at the Dayton Blues Fest, and wanted to talk about the death this past Saturday, July 16 of Kaylen English, age 20, while in the custody of the Dayton Police Department while being transported to the Montgomery County Jail on a burglary charge.

Police say that English jumped to his death after breaking out the back window of a police cruiser with his head, jumping out of the cruiser, and then jumping off of the Salem Avenue bridge.

Lt. Kim Hill said Dayton police were transporting the English, who was not initially identified, to the Montgomery County jail around 9:40 p.m

Dayton Police Lt. Kill Hill was quoted in the Dayton Daily News, “On the bridge, the prisoner starts to bang his head against the (rear passenger) window,” Hill said. “The officer starts to pull over, and once he pulled over, the suspect had the window broken. He then went head-first out the window and headfirst over the bridge.”

A search for any past criminal record English had turned up nothing on the Montgomery County Courts and Dayton Municipal Court Criminal Cases web site.

Lt. Hill said there would be a full investigation into the incident.

1. Bizarre
The police story...this is very bizarre. Am not getting how a guy beat his head through a police cruiser window and got out and went over the edge of a bridge to his death. This does not compute...

2. Everyone here is asking the same questions
The police have yet to say whether or not he was handcuffed. If he weren't, then there wouldn't have been reason for him to use his head, because he could have easily kicked the windows out.

More questions than answers at this point.

He was certainly not a typical criminal suspect. Zero priors.

3. We had a case like that here in Houston once......

A man in police custody, Jose Torres went swimming in Buffalo Bayou. The only problem was that he still had his hand cuffs on when he went swimming. The investigation and murder charges resulted in a shake down and change of our police department. It took the Feds coming in to speed it along.

Sad that it take a case such as this to keep police in check. They are suppose to serve and protect.

8. Bombshell: Eyewitness Says Police Accounts Are Wrong
Dayton Citizen Darren Morris says he witnessed the Kylin English incident from the opposite side of the Salem Avenue bridge while returning from Fight Night at Drake’s Gym downtown. Morris says the official version does not match what he saw.

9. OMG! How did this kid do what they say he did?
A new video has been released that shows Kylin English barely able to stand in the Montgomery County Jail just before his death.

English family members are accusing the Dayton Police Department of a murder conspiracy.
