already blind, deaf, NOT MUTE, but "dumb"?

Several people I know watch this channel for their dose of "reality" every day, and leave the room to get another beer or soda pop, or a bowl of ice cream or dust their AOL computer off, whenever a real challenge to their silly mythology has 30-90 seconds on Fox News, (about 3 times a week!)

(They also leave the room for bodily functions several times a day to miss yet another lie propagated on Fox News, but they don't have to worry, each lie is repeated 10 times a day for 3 weeks in a row, so they get to hear it enough to remember it.)

3. I love the blank stare and blinking by the stiff in the suit on the left.
He looks like Nye smacked him between the eyes with a 2x4 just before the cameras started to roll. You can see him desperately trying to come up with something witty, but this conversation has him so completely lost that he can't find a way to riff on it to make Nye look stupid, their stock in trade at Pox.

5. What the hell was that Fox guy trying to say about volcanos?
Was he implying that "climate-change believers" think that burning fossil fuels causes volcanos to stop erupting?

I think he communicated this point rather effectively. I'm convinced.

6. He doesn't move numbers around Woman!
He's not an accountant. Or a Wall Street banker! Oh my Dog these people are really stupid and bad. Bill was very polite and let the stupid guy off very easily with his trying to connect Ancient Moon Volcanism to climate change.
I don't watch Fox except for the Simpsons... Watch this and know why. Kudos for Bill Nye in his taking the time to even darken their doorstep.

10. Just go to Washington and move some #s around
Links between climate change on earth now and volcanos on the moon millions of years ago

Both of the Fox hosts are just paid half wits and their regular viewers don know they are being lied to.

Fox can get a polling sample that reflects 193% of the population.

9. Why would Fox be Baffled by the Moon?
After all, a majority of their viewers bay at it regularly.

12. That was hilarious. Bill Nye reminded me of
The character Luke Wilson played in Idiocracy trying to explain the most basic elements of science to individuals who clearly had no concept of what he was talking about and who had the attention span of gnats. The interviewer was asking utterly disconnected questions. Volcanos on the moon and global warming? The Space Shuttle? Wow. My favorite part was when Nye said "that's a great question" and you know he is thinking "Get me out of here."

18. It's a good thing Nye didn't mention the discovery of water on the moon...
or the host would have said, "Water? You mean, like out of the toilet?"

I still remember when they poker players made molecular formulas with their cards.

But yeah, nice to see Bill putting something true on Fox for once.

19. Info on how much Volcano's impact climate change on Earth
Edited on Sun Jul-31-11 12:28 PM by Quixote1818
Studies show that globally, volcanoes on land and under the sea release a total of about 200 million tonnes of CO2 annually.

This seems like a huge amount of CO2, but a visit to the U.S. Department of Energy's Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC) website (http://cdiac.ornl.gov/ /) helps anyone armed with a handheld calculator and a high school chemistry text put the volcanic CO2 tally into perspective. Because while 200 million tonnes of CO2 is large, the global fossil fuel CO2 emissions for 2003 tipped the scales at 26.8 billion tonnes. Thus, not only does volcanic CO2 not dwarf that of human activity, it actually comprises less than 1 percent of that value.
