30. It is a wealth extraction,. banksters are looting and burning!
"It is a mathmatical FACT!"

The monetary system; bankers in cahoots with the politicians and the so called regulators, are burning down the house as they are looting it. It is an old ploy to cause a ruckus to divert attention while you steal your intended plunder,. .

The president needs to take RADICAL steps as Ratigan states here, an "executive decision" to end this corrupted, broken, and destructive system. Why do we pay endlessly compounded interest to private for profit bankers ? Money need not be based on debt,. and created by PRIVATE banks,. should we not have a PUBLIC bank ? A bank that benefits all the people of the land equally,. not just the wealthy few who have been given the exclusive rights to create money?? Currently when your government "borrows" money from these private banks it pays interest to them,. and it also creates the money at the same time,. (but not the interest!) The "FED", although it sounds very much like a federal institution under government control, is actually a private bank! Why??

Watch "Money as Debt";

47. Yea I loved the fact
All the people in the background, usually milling around, doing work, and not paying attention, stood up and started looking at him, but who wouldn't.

I might add, he was doing everything Cenk Uygur did, waving arms, screaming loudly, but most of all revealing the basic truth of why our system is so f**ked, so lost, that it is basically a pay for play system, now with the Citizen's United decision to allow unlimited monies into elections, completely bought. Anyone (including Obama) who gets uppity, will be primaried, have a vast sum levied against them in election, and a corporatist like Walker will be installed in their stead.

So I suspect he'll go on vacation, and never come back at some point. Telling the truth will get you fired on the MSM.

Goddam that was some passion right there! That's telling it like it is. Name that elephant in the room!

Congress is owned by special corporate interests whose only concern is to further their financial positions. They are pack-raping America (and the rest of the world) via international financial institutions, the IMF and the World Bank.

Nothing will change unless:

1) A President steps up who is prepared to name that fact and take on his/her own corrupt Congress-people.

OR

2) The people rise up and dismantle the system themselves.

It's frustrating when we are being raped every day by bankers and plutocrats and there isn't any leadership in sight with any moral conviction because they are either weak or paid off. All we can do is watch the carnage because the system is sooo broken.

19. More of uncensored Ratigan- ripping into a teabagger
and asks to have his mic cut.

Must see video:

Dylan Ratigan kicks teabagger off of his show: "Can We Please Cut Off This Man's Microphone?"

By John Amato
http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/dylan-ratigan-kicks-teabagger-his-show

Ratigan: Mark, do I run NBC? Are you a guest on my show? Do you have any intention of answering any of my questions because I don't want to continue to fool with this. You're wasting valuable oxygen. Can we please cut off this man's microphone, He has no interest in answering my questions, Mark a pleasure. Actually not really a pleasure. It was offensive, you're offensive. Your treatment of my show as a vehicle to spread your propaganda, ignore my questions, offensive and an indication of what is wrong with the dialogue in this country. Period. Not to mention that a group that would accept Nazis and racists.

(For those who missed another of his better rants.)

Debbie Wasserman Schultz trainwreck (HCR talking points)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8R8baHPr2E

(He did later apologize to her, but not to the teabagger)

“Racists and talking points piss me off,” Ratigan says. “And I will flip out.”

22. He gets on my nerves (alot), but along with the OP, this clip with Debbie was awesome.
To her credit, he couldn't decide what he wanted to ask her, but to his, that is a very good question: "If you produce legislation and the stock price goes up 10% in under a month, what does that mean" (or alternatively, "how is this reigning in the company to the benefit of the comsumer as claimed".

Her response about not being a stock analyst was weak at best. It doesn't take a 'stock analyst' to think twice as to who benefits from your legislation based on market expectations of future profits.

Then again, thats what we get for electing attorneys (in general) as legislators and Presidential advisors while our Nobel Laureate Economists are off teaching college and writing in oped columns.

57. I remember that teabagger show
and it looked like a Ratigan stunt. Any reputable host would have never invited such an extremist on his show. I'm sure Ratigan knew exactly what he was going to do and say ahead of time. It got him some exposure on a lot of political boards, which is what I think he was going for. That's what I think he was doing yesterday with his "unplanned" rant.

What next? Beck style tears!

21. From Dylan at 6:03 to Jimmy at 7:10 is the absolute truth.
We need a hard core change agent with a mandate to risk his political career and frankly his ass and take it directly to the American people in order to make that change. That change is not incremental but whole sale campaign finance reform with no built in loop holes. That's what has to happen for there to be hope.

23. You mean like McCain Finegold? That "first step" that was completely dismantled
by SCOTUS and just bought the WI senate their majority back?

You mean that McCain Finegold bill that our Dem majority in both houses didn't think to write into law and tell SCOTUS to stick Citizens United up their collective asses?

Campaign reform like that? That will cut off their own re-election funding?

69. SCOTUS decided with Citizens United that corporations
can pour unlimited, anonymous cash into the political process and elections without impunity.

Congress has had 3 years to act on that, and yet, not one bill has been brought to the floor under Pelosi, Boehner or Reid.

To Dylan's point - they CAN'T. These corporations with their unlimited pockets fund the very campaigns of the people who would fight this, and that isn't happening.

To put it another way, one half of McCain Feingold has enough cash (but not political capital) to make it happen and the other is working on his yard and spending time with his family.

Yes - I DO think we have gone through the rabbit hole and daylight is but a faint memory.

107. Dylan's point is Congress won't.
It sounds like you and I agree on that. Dylan's solution to that monumental problem is to have a President who really is a change agent and go directly to the American people with the truth, that the system is busted. The American people know that already. What's missing is a leader who will hammer that message home relentlessly. I agree with Dylan that that is our only way out of this situation. Unfortunately, this President is not that leader.

At the end, he referenced the Brady Bonds in SA, The Civil War and WWII. In other words, fuck congress and just do it. Repatriate our tax dollars via executive order and start the infrastructure projects.

Rants at that speed/volume are hard to process (I have listened to it over a dozen times now to catch it all). Recommend you give it another listen.

44. He's so full of shit - Blaming BOTH parties-We know who the obstructionist are, record filibusterers
Edited on Wed Aug-10-11 01:12 PM by LaPera
uncompromising fucking elitist republicans, who won't cut a nickel from any of the rich and their corporations, subsidies, taxes, loop-holes, private jets maintenance and other deductions only the wealthiest receive.....I heard Ratigan's whole spewing bullshit live yesterday on MSNBC (not just this out of context clip) and I wanted to kick Ratigan's ass right then on the spot the asshole...when he said the usual talking points and attacks to please everyone on both sides, the fucking coward!

There's only one party who admittedly wants to see our government & economy go down so they can get the black man out of the White House, (and I'm certainly no big Obama fan) The republicans have publicly admitted they'll do anything to destroy any hope or good the Democrat's and/or Obama try to do....Republicans were just hoping to bring down the government to default last week - Obama had no choice but to give in or we would of ALL been fucked (except the wealthy they could hold on) Republicans purposely doing nothing to help get jobs or help the economy, NOTHING! - They are REPUBLICANS - the rich & their corporations who want the presidency to destroy their long hatred of Social Security Medicare, unions and every other social program from or taxes and weekly pay checks we are paying for SS....One party the republicans, want to privatize and give it ALL to the richest motherfuckers - And Ratigan has such little balls as to scream to pretend to make a point for ratings "it's both parties" what bullshit! What a staged, lying kiss-ass asshole!

You are right in that Reps want to destroy any good the dems attempted the second they won the house. Cutting spending is their way of undoing any gains the economy made from the stimulus. Attacking entitlements is their way to make sure dems get the blame for that after they saw how much crap they were getting from the Ryan plan.
Ratigan leans too right for me but he is correct that both parties are bought. Look at Baucus. Look at who donates to all the members of congress. That no one in congress has moved aggressively to counter Citizen's United suggests they are all looking forward to the corporate gravy train and we will not have anyone truly representing the people until that is stopped.
Extraction is a great word for it, too. That is what is happening. How anyone can defend that and still be elected is beyond me.

I saw this live also and I just don't trust Ratigan. I have serious doubts that his tantrum was genuine. He has a huge ego and I think he is capable of faking outrage to get attention.

I have watched many times as he played the false equivalency card, blaming both the right and the left equally for our problems. The one thing I know Dylan Ratigan believes in is Dylan Ratigan.

I'm sure his ratings will get a slight boost and I'm also sure that was his intention.

Oh, and I am also sure MSNBC is reading this and many other liberal threads right now about yesterday's show. If they've gotten to MY post, sorry guys, I ain't buying it.

It was their grandiose idea and our complicity.

Otherwise stated, can you name me *one* movement working to repeal free trade and de-regulation currently sitting in Congress? (Dennis Kucinich and Bernie Sanders don't count)

They have defanged Dr Dean, Gov Spitzer, Reps Grayson and Weiner, etc... Who is pushing for this (against their own re-election financing) TODAY.

120. You make a VERY good point, so says this STILL die-hard Dean fan.
I love all those people you mention: Kucinich, Bernie Sanders, Governor Spitzer, Alan Grayson and Anthony Weiner - and PARTICULARLY the Good Doctor Howard Dean. I still remember removing the Kerry bumper sticker from the inside of my car's back window the day after the 2004 election and thinking with great sadness - "I was right the first time." I'd kept my "Dean for America" bumper sticker even after replacing it with the Kerry sticker. And I put the "Dean for America" sticker back in place.

Even so, I stand by my disgust at the "false equivalency" that runs rampant out there. By degrees of fault, CLEARLY the republi-CONS and teabaggers are exponentially more guilty. Certainly they couldn't have enjoyed the success they have unless the pushback from the opposition weren't so flabby, and in some cases non-existent. Yes in that case both sides are indeed to blame. But at the same time, I don't blame the Jews as much for "trying to get along" while civilization as they knew it in pre-war Germany was spiraling down toward the gates of Nazi Hell. I blame the fucking Nazis. One could say those who didn't try to resist (in that example, ours now, or in ANY such case) were complicit. But the instigators who pushed, manipulated, and exploited events like so many opportunistic infections remain in a guilt/blame class by themselves.

Bad guys, with or without enablers, are still bad guys. And they will still try to pull bad shit.

But I think it really does do a disservice not to call out the complicity. Dylan saying "burn it down now" vs "kick the can" did that, IMHO. One party is that of destruction and the other wants to put in place temporary measures (that won't do shit) in the hopes actual adults will be elected before they have to deal with it again (or thats how I heard it).

BTW - I was a 2004 Deaniac too :D Never did warm to Senator Kerry. He is growing on me, but that was a hold-yer-nose election.

I hear your frustrantion!!! The only way is to keep fighting and move forward. I suggest that we expose the political bias of the Supreme Court and get that decision reversed. I'm just middle America and I used to say that the Supreme Court is the only group of peropl we can still trust - NO MORE!! If the Supreme Court rules based on the law it shouldn't matter much whether we have liberals or conservatives there. Now I see that every appointment is contested and the decisions are based on the split of the court. If it weren't we would see more 8-1 and 7-2 decisions but every time they decide we see a 5-4 split. These people need to get their act together.

It may look hopeless but the only way to fight is to fight.

If we don't fight in the political arena, there will be fighting in the streets.

THERE'S NO DOUBT - VOTE THEM OUT!!!

Edited on Wed Aug-10-11 05:52 PM by defendandprotect
It is a "Coin Operated" Congress --

but remember that citizens also gave Obama HUGE amounts of money --

wasn't it something like $850 million ... ?

And, as I recall it, DU'ers gave him another $280,000 as he entered the White House!!

Did that give citizens any leverage over Obama -- ? Nope!

There is only one group that has Obama's attention and interest -- and that corporations!!

Was listening to Hartmann today and he was suggestin that Mitch McConnell would probably

be going off to a $5 milliion a year job with Koch Bros when he retires!!

Think he said McConnell -- though could also be John Boehner?

All of thse future payoff's are something we have no way of controlling --

We can only rely on the honesty of men -- and what our Founders tried to make clear to us

and what we have to remember is that there are many dishonest men among us!!

Dylan is tough on everyone, doesn't seem to recognize the obstruction first two years, then tea party influence over the republican majority in the house, which only wants his destruction.
He needs Gop votes to get anything done, but he must now expose that the Gop goal is to destroy US economy, just to get him out. He has to make it known to everyone that Gop is only serving big corporations and destroying the safety net for the elderly, poor and middle class.

122. I couldn't agree more.
Those here who continually blame one side or the other -- be it Democrats or Republicans -- are missing the point. It's the money stupid. The money in politics is a cancer on the body politic, and we're not going to get shit done so long as that is the case. Until it changes, we're going to continue to see the leadership in Washington and our elected representatives chasing their tails and getting no where fast. The President needs to buck up and use the power of the bully pulpit to bring his case to the American people to start implementing real solutions, because it's damn clear that Congress sure as hell isn't going to do it.
