1. Damn, I've become far too dependent upon having closed captioning.
I had trouble hearing and understanding a lot of what was said.

7. But what replaces the empire -
Brzezinski argues in the GRAND CHESSBOARD that the US is the last empire a global oligarchal system replaces it. Brzezinski has greatly influenced presidents from Reagan through Obama.

My preference would be to progress to local communities/local economies - but there are no signs that it's going that way....


Wish I had not just read 1984 - seems like that's where we're going

I also had trouble with the audio, perhaps he answered some of those questions.

9. Maybe,
"According to Galtung, the US Empire causes "unbearable suffering and resentment" because the "exploiters/ killers/ dominators/ alienators, and those who support the US Empire because of perceived benefits" are engaging in "unequal, non-sustainable, exchange patterns." However, Galtung added that the decline of the US Empire does not imply a fall and decline of the US republic and that the "relief from the burden of Empire control and maintenance...could lead to a blossoming of the US Republic."
