Joel Kelsey with FreePress.net joins Thom Hartmann. If your cell phone provider is AT&T wireless...I have some bad news for you! How the company is screwing over customers through outrageous price spikes! And why we all might get a better deal on wireless if we move to France! It's time to bring back the Sherman Anti-trust Act - and put an end to monopolies of all kinds in America.

The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann on RT TV & FSTV "live" 9pm and 11pm check www.thomhartmann.com/tv for local listings

1. i know, right ? lol
havent watched the vid yet, not at an appropriate places to do so.. but..

i cant for the life of me figure out why communications companies have been allowed to become so big again (well, beyond their masses contributions to both political parties)... what was the purpose of the first break up of ATT if they were just going to let them buy up everything again? why wasnt the ability to stop them doing so included in the original break up deal?

its a subject i keep meaning to look into further but often forget about after coming to DU for a few minutes and having another subject plague me ... lol

2. LOL!
From this moment forward you will never see a piece of legislation enacted that reins in corporate greed or disrupts a trust or monopoly.

Look what the politicians have allowed Wall Street, the Pharmaceutical industry, the insurance industry and the medical services industry to do to the consumer. People are actually dying because of these bought politicians.

Now, with exactly ZERO leadership from the White House and almost none from congressional Democrats there is little chance that we will see improvement. We know there will be no concern for the "general welfare" of the American people by the Republicans -that goes without saying.

This country is so fucking over.

3. What is most disturbing is
the fact that France and Japan protect the interests of their citizens far better than the United States.

The claim that the United States is the greatest nation on earth is flat out laughable.

4. here in Sweden, I pay a student rate of 49 SEK (around $8) a month for unlimited Swedish calls, text
My internet/cable is 199 SEK/month (around 33 dollars) for 200 Mbps, no cap, and all channels on telly (which I barely watch, btw). When I lived in NYC in mid 2000's, I was stunned at the horrid service, slooooooow internet, rotten coverage, and extremely high prices, and that was in the most important city of the US. It seems like no matter what you pay for there, you get ripped off by the mega-corporations, in almost every facet of life activities.
