1. The battle in Libya is far from conclusively won |
|
Furthermore the 'rebel' forces are far from unified -
The US and NATO will be lucky if they do not have to back up their involvement with air support to sending in boots on the ground...Air war in Libya has been the cause of many civilian casualties and therefore contributes to distrust of NATO by many of the rebel factions.
The definition of freedom is very subjective - Just because the Libyans have rid themselves of Gadaffi, there is no guarantee that he will not be replaced by a second tyrant or a puppet of NATO...The Libyans will be lucky is NATO and the US leave them to self-governance which they are fully capable of doing - will the US and NATO leave is the big question...

2. All of that is true. . . |
|
. . . but where would the US be is the French hadn't helped us out? And this hasn't exactly damaged the US's credibility in the Middle-East. I don't hear the Libyans calling us The Great Satan.
