John Kerry does not give me much hope for protecting Social Security....

12. These people "don't know how the other half lives."

Remember McCain before the 2008 election? He actually didn't know how many homes he owned. Kerry is much the same in this regard. He just can't fathom trying to live on $12,000 a year. He can't fathom it so it doesn't bother him to advocate social security.

It isn't as if cutting the legs out from under seniors will make them suddenly capable of seeking gainful employment.

6. Thanks to Bernie Sanders for rallying us old folks. He states that

social security will be able to pay in full all that is owed to retirees for the next 25 years.
My feelings are that if the economy and jobs are not healthy in the next 25 years we are all going down the tube. It takes jobs to keep social security secure. The answer, of course, is getting people to work; that is where the money comes from for social security. And it sure as hell should not be used as a slush fund for taking care of other economic problems.
Side note, I will be gone sometime during the next 5 years (hopefully), as well as plenty of other retirees, so that will help keep the fund healthier. LOL
