'What are we doing in Darfur? For months, if not years, we have known that genocide is taking place, over 400,000 people have been killed and 2,500,000 displaced. We now need to demand our Governments take action to bring security and peace to the people of Darfur.'

6. quite frankly nothing can be done in darfur
the government of Sudan doesn't want outsiders getting involved. They've essentially got no economy that can be sanctioned or embargoed. Essentially the only realistic thing that can be done is getting the US involved in yet another drawn out unwinnable war in the Middle East, this time in Sudan, and there's already too much reluctance in fighting the ones in Iraq and Afghanistan. Looks like the slaughter will continue while the world casually watches. At least the world is half-watching; the war in Congo has killed five times as many as in Darfur, and you hear nary a peep on the news about it.

9. Thank you.
This could not get enough attention. Through everything that happens, like a filter, I see Darfur in the background. Perhaps the most important subject in the world today. Virtually ignored.

11. I see. It's about oil.
No wonder we aren't paying attention. It's not the color of their skin. It's the oil. Oil is power.

I cannot believe the evil of these people who know what they are causing. It's as though the blame is dispersed among so many smaller players. One pumps the oil. One goes to the meetings.

And that first link is three years old!

I'm running off here. But I'm anxious to read the other links.
