17. I'm all for the Christianity being the State religion, but I find it very sick

that most of America's problems stem from the idolatry, nay, the triumphalist idolatry, of the very people who have driven people away from the Christian faith with their scandalous repudiation of Christian 'values' in favour of unmitigated materialism.

Paul, the apostle, stated that avarice is a form of idolatry, yet the US seems to have been founded upon it as upon a rock! And guarded its perpetual increase with the clear-sightedness and fervour of the Unjust Steward in Jesus' parable, who was commended by his master for his shrewdness in 'going for it', all guns blazing, i.e. for the maintaining of the material affluence and status he prized; in comparison with the often ambivalent attitude of Christians with regard to what they were supposed to prioritize, in line with Christ's explicit teachings.
