1. You can tell they're the sort of a-holes that, if not recorded, they'd be beaten the heck out of 'em |
|
Thank goodness for recording devices and for this movement! God bless the OWS movement!

I've heard of a tactic that has been used to back police down before. It's basically getting arrested. In huge numbers. Insisting on being arrested, in fact. Since the police are taking away blankets and tents the protesters need to remain where they are, what would happen if the protesters insisted on going to jail for refusing to disperse, then peacefully let the cops take them? How many cells can they fill every day and how many cops can they tie up this way before they have to give up and let the protesters (and their tents, and their blankets) stay?
This might not work in large cities, though, I've only heard of it being effectively used in small ones. But it can be effective.

I feel stupid for forgetting to add that, although in some states, if the prison sentence is below a certain number of days, they can refuse you a jury trial, can't they?

8. I was there for this...the protesters were doing nothing.... |
|
we ended our peaceful march on the steps of the Capitol and police in riot thug gear surrounded us (there were abotu 1500) and they were trying to provoke something to happen (the cops said they were protecting the capitol...from what..the words on our signs?????) When people left the steps and went down to the park where we always protest and where #occupy Denver occupies..the police followed and started provoking on the grass like you see on this video.

10. A little bit crowded? |
|
Not saying they didn't provoke this incident, because they keep getting sent out all over the country where they aren't needed, and worse they're being sent to steal blankets and other heat sources from protesters, and that's criminal.
However, in this video clip, I see a bunch of surrounded cops looking very nervous. I'd love to see the lead up to how that happened, or is the video not showing the entire space? If you corner a dog and scare it, the dog is going to bite, it's not safe to step in too close to these guys, be careful!

11. If you corner a dog...excuse me? |

we were the ones being surrounded. A cop drove his motorcycle through a group of people...They had on riot gear, guns, chemical weapons...we had signs. The police provoked this entire situation. We had just marched peacefully for 2 hrs around Denver. When we came back they had the streets blocked off and in riot gear.

12. Ah, figured it had to have more of a lead up |
|
The clip posted, however, doesn't show that. And they do look nervous and surrounded. Like I said, the cops aren't doing what they should. They're getting sent out to do things they shouldn't. But all I had to go on from this thread was that clip.
