2. Not a mealy-mouthed apology at all. He's concerned about kids & war. |
|
He shouldn't have to apologize in the f'ing first place, but he was very classy in saying that healthcare for kids and the war is what we should be focusing on.
Pete Stark, I love ya man, your constituents are lucky to have you.

42. That is the state of "American democracy" today... |
|
Those who point out that the current leadership are CRIMINAL THUGS get censured (i.e. MoveOn.org) or threatened with it like this guy. Stark is also part of the problem for giving in to those right-wing thugs. He is an elected "representative" and yet by giving that BS "apology" (which was more like sucking Bush's dick), he is not representing those who voted for him or the country as a whole.
Clearly, the USA is only a "democracy" for those who have the millions of dollars necessary to buy influence in Washington.

5. So where is Bush's apology for joking about finding WMDs in Iraq |
|
when he knew or should have know the whole time that they were not there.
Where is Bush's apology for refusing to fund health care for kids in New York and San Francisco where the cost of just paying the rent prevents families from affording health insurance although their gross incomes would mean they were wealthy anywhere else?
Where is Bush's apology for losing billions in Iraq?
Why aren't the telecom companies apologizing to us for breaching our trust and our rights to privacy?
Why isn't Sandra Day O'Connor apologizing to us for having foisted Bush on us in the first place?
Why aren't the Republicans apologizing for having rubber-stamped the evils of the Bush administration all these years?
Why aren't men and women of conscience in this administration apologizing to the world for the festering sore of injustice that is Guantanamo?
Why isn't Congress exercising its Constitutional obligation to enact laws governing the handling of prisoners and captures and closing Guantanamo?
Why isn't our Democratic majority in Congress apologizing to the world for the civil rights abuses of the Bush administration?
Why isn't the Democratic majority in Congress right now apologizing for its failure to enact the drastic environmental protections we need just to save the human race from virtual extinction?
I've only just started the list.
Stark should be the last one to have to apologize. Even if you don't like what he said, his apology is about words. The Bushies have killed and continue to kill countless innocent people. The Bushies have desecrated the Constitution, abandoned the sacred commitment of our nation to human rights and wasted our nation's wealth.

Where is Cheney's apology for saying "fuck you"? His involvement in outing Plame? His helping to lead us into an illegal war with false information? Gee, can somebody tell me again why these people aren't impeached and IN JAIL or better yet up on treason charges?

10. What Pete Stark should have said: |
|
"Mr Speaker, I wish to apologize to members of this House, as well as to stand-up comedians, clowns, and others involved in the amusement industry, for remarks I made the other day about President Bush blowing people up for his own "amusement". What I meant to say was that it is the outing of covert CIA operatives that the President considers an amusing revenge, while the idea of torture gives him a rock-hard boner, and the prospect of actually blowing brown people into little fragments makes him climax. I'm sorry that I didn't make myself clearer. I yield the rest of my time."

21. no people, that's exactly what they want |
|
the circular firing squad. divide and conquer.
its just as obvious they got to Pelosi, Reid, and plenty more of the leadership. some time ago.
remember who the real enemy is.
we need to let our leaders know that having our support is more important than kow-towing to the buscho fascists. we need to find a way to let them know that we will support them in going against the machine. that if the bad guys carry through on whatever the threats and intimidation they have laid on them to cause them to behave like this, caving time and again, clearly out of fear of retribution, they will be supported and if need be revenged.
it is us who have to give them back their courage. we need to be their spine.
what good does it do us to hack their knees off as we accuse them of stabbing us in the back when it is bushco that is holding the gun to their heads?

I disagree with your message, but it might be easier to swallow if you didn't have Hills picture up.
A real leader does not apologize for telling the truth.
The fact that you believe otherwise indicates to me that you will make a bad choice in who to back for leadership.

Why do Democrats always buckle under GOP pressure when they speak the truth? We finally have a Dem lay it on the line about this sociopath we have for a president, and then under pressure apologizes. Has anyone pressured Mitch McConnell to apologize for making up lies and trashing the young man who gave the Dem's rebuttal for the SCHIP veto? What if Harry Reid (I know it would never happen) was behind some horrible lies surrounding a GOP cause? The repubs would hound him until he resigned. I hate to say but the Dem's really are weak. This absolutely sickens me.

The republicans will smear us no matter what we say. Get used to it.
Let us at least get smeared for saying and doing the right thing.

40. Tsssss. As the Pelosi apologist will point out, this is all part of a double secret strategy! |
|
By giving the GOP exactly everything they want, roll over, and play dead. The most brilliant political strategy since the classical period will emerge in its full glory. It is just that us mere mortals can not comprehend the amazing genius of Pelosi and the merry gang at the DLC.
Oh, and never forget... it is all Nader's fault. And remember there is plenty of difference between the Dems and the GOP, for starters the GOP never apologizes.
I will not waste a single cent nor a minute of my life helping these idiots. I poured blood and sweat in 00, 02, 04, and 06. No more, I registered as an independent. If my only choices are between GOP and GOP lite, I just stay at home and save me time, and effort. Life is too short...

41. Rep. Language does matter. Too bad the rest of Washington uses it as a weapon of Mass Destruction |
|
Even on their own.
Orwell could have never seen a more clever use of language mutilation than "Bushian" lingo.
Orwell could have never imagined a more devious use of language manipulation than "Bushian" logic.
Orwell would never have the Hubris to call another on the very over extension of language "blame speak and politicization" created by and perfected by himself as the Republican's did here.
They have out "Orwelled" George Orwell!!!
A new word must now be added to our Lexicon. From now on, henceforth, Orwellian "to the MAX" (as the kids say) must now be known as
"BUSHIAN", adj, putting even the ideas outlined in the Orwell novel "1984" to shame for their lack of hubris, creativity in the furthering of totalitarian states, using the propaganda available to the state in a manner that would make Orwell blush, 2. also ignorant of facts, unable to differentiate truth from fiction, dream like state of self delusion.
You see language is dangerous. Because it lives, it learns, it grows, unlike many people.
