4. I wonder when this started.
I read a German website that claimed that the Clinton administration pressed European countries to change European law to end privacy protections of their electronic communications. The purpose of eavesdropping and surveillance at that time was claimed to be to monitor and end copyright violations. (Remember all the noise about that back in the '90s.) I wonder whether our government has been snooping on electronic communications for a long time.

in the trial in Colorado against the telecom CEO who told them NO.
