It's been discussed before, but I like this take on what we could have done with the money spent on the war.

2. It should be
Although it's also important to point out that we've *borrowed* a lot of the money that's been spent. Just as it was under Reagan, the nation's giant credit card is being maxed out.

3. Brilliant and heartbreaking.
I've always said I would be PROUD to pay my taxes if they would go to social welfare programs, cleaning up the environment, solving starvation and disease epidemics. Instead, they're spent to line the pockets of big business in the form of subsidies, tax breaks, and no-bid contracts, and promoting death and suffering by supporting foolish military endeavors such as the Iraq war and financing and arming states that are unrepentant human rights violators.

4. This is why I support Edwards...
(for the moment).
Edwards has pretty much said that he'd do this (give that sort of money to feed the world). He wants to cure world poverty.
What I like about that, aside from the humanity, it brings about global stability and we don't have to worry about terrorism in the future. I'm typing this fast, but there is a correlation.

Hopefully Kucinich will come out with equally good plans.

Cheers,
Binkles

5. I agree
We need a president who understands that helping to improve the socioeconomic status of people in impoverished countries is a key part of fighting radical fundamentalism.
