2. DK makes so much sense - unfortunately he does not fit in with
the Military Industrial Complex and so the main stream media is commanded to not give him the air time needed to get out his message. 3-4 minutes of sound bites in a 2 hour debate does not work. We live in a society which requires everything to be put over in a theatrical manner and preferably in 30 second sound bites because that is probably an average attention span.

3. Okay . . .
everybody who was going apoplectic about his Ron Paul musings – watch both halves of this video, look yourself in the mirror and say with a straight face that Dennis does not have the best message and vision of all of the Democratic candidates.

I, too was disappointed and concerned about his reaching out to Paul, but even if you consider this to be a serious mistake, he still has a much better record than the other candidates in terms of the number of serious mistakes made. And unlike several of the other candidates bad decisions, this one cost not one single life! I think we may need to take a deep breath and try to recover our perspective. Dennis is a national treasure, and I would be proud to call him my President. Lets have the courage to make it happen!

Yes, we need to take a deep breath. Even more so, we need to also stop treating everyone outside of this community as "them." This is a pluralistic society. Having DK and RP on a ticket, while I would not think Paul was the best choice, would be a lot like having Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton. Oh, we did have that combination, as well as MANY other such variety, at the Constitutional Convention. It was not ONLY compromise, but also recognizing that what makes one person "tick" is NOT what makes another person "tick."

I know for a fact that my sister has a different world-view, is motivated by different bases for right and wrong, has different aspirations than I do. Yet, she is a part of this country, and reflects a large number of people better than I do. I reflect a large number of people better than she does. We both deserve NOT to be trampled. We both deserve to be represented, encouraged, motivated, enabled, left alone as appropriate, given room to excel, fail, or something in between.

When did the Democratic Party base become so antithetical to this belief, and SO DAMN partisan, that we forget this higher consciousness of recognition, acceptance, collaboration, and joint expression and improvement? How have we become so ditto-headed?

Finally, I am not referring to "bi-partisanship"! That meaningless word already frames the debate. It is a crappy framing too. One of bickering/feuding.

I am talking about community, civility, collaboration and egality.

On edit: I just realized that after nearly four years here, this is my 1000th post!

8. Please consider posting this as a stand alone post in the GD
forum, I would certainly K&R, send me a PM or reply here :)

In order to move forward we need to erase some of the damage that has been done which keeps one group pitted against another.

Great post!

5. Kucinich tells it like it is
What a wonderful speech. I happened to catch the afternoon session on CSpan and wish this video had included the introduction. The lady Dennis thanks at the beginning and recognizes for her AFL-CIO contributions introduced him and laid it out. Most Democrats want out of Iraq, most D's want healthcare, education, jobs, environmental protections, etc. Most Democrats dream for everything Kucinich is promising, we are just so used to getting the shaft that we no longer expect to get what we want. I want this administration held accountable, a peaceful world of healthy, happy people and I'm going to vote for Dennis Kucinich. I have a dream.

10. The True Colors of the DNC
The lukewarm reception and half-hearted applause given by the DNC to DK and his progressive programs should put to rest any doubts as to where they stand on the issues. No impeachment. No universal health care. No end to the war. Keeping the Patriot Act (Because, after all, soon it will be a Democratic President wielding all that power). No changes to NAFTA or the WTO. In the pockets of the same corporate interests as the GOP, the DNC, the candidates they endorse, and the status quo they stand for should be denounced by all true Democrats and Progressives.
