Which brought out the very best in the Democratic candidates. Good for Obama, and also good for the other candidates (certainly Dodd and Clinton) for popping the ridiculous, poisonous, balloon that was being floated by the deeply unimpressive moderator. It seems she relished that question. She also made a hash of the Republican debate as well. Am I right in thinking that she is the editor of the Des Moines Register? If so, chances are, Biden won't win that paper's endorsement.
It was a horrible question, handled with great dignity by Joe Biden, and by his Democratic colleagues (I won't say 'opponents' because in that moment they were united.)

that question stung. I'm glad Biden, Obama and the others handled it with class.

4. It was an unfair question, but |
|
it needed to be addressed openly and honestly. The media created this myth and put an unjust tag on Biden, much as they've done with other candidates in the past. Though it probably didn't put that garbage to rest totally, it weakened it and restored some dignity to someone who has fought for civil rights his entire adult life.

7. It shows the depth of some people's perceptions |
|
when they spout out media-created crap about candidates. Just because the media says it, does not make it true (duh).

From Biden and Obama.
I'm glad the moderator put that question out there, as it gave Biden a chance to address and issue and really shine. Obama also looked good.

6. As an African American, I thought it was a fair question |
|
and absolutely needed to be answered.
I have felt a sting and a bit shocked when I hear Biden "make remarks" that a man of his intelligence could have phrased another way. The way that he phrased it this time.
Phrased the way that he took the time to say it for this debate.
However, make no mistake ~ a public figure with his civil rights record, in the year 2007, should not make those errors. He should not have to say "Sorry" AFTER his "put your foot in your mouth" remarks are all over the press.
Somebody should train the Brother on what he should have learned in "Race Relations 101" or in Kindergarten ~ If you can't say something nice about your "friends" say nothing.
I support Obama but Biden is fine with me as well.If he gets the nomination I would vote for him.
Obama's remarks were very classy and appropriate for the moment. He should have added, in my view, something like, "In the heat of the campaign battle, we, and include ME in that WE, need to do more thinking before speaking."

8. Good that he was given an opportunity to address this. |

Very good answer and good that Obama stepped up like that. Made me proud of our Dems.
