5. That is unbelievable......
she welcomes anyone to murder someone. She is what is wrong with America yet she is part of running the country. She seems to have forgotten one of the Ten Commandments - Thou shalt not kill - that so many of her followers want posted in government buildings.

7. Barking mad, isn't it?
I did a bit of googling and found something called Executive Order 11905. It appears that that kind of thing really is illegal!

11. Ironically enough, it was written regarding Castro
Kennedy had to reign in the CIA who was chomping at the bit to off Fidel, so he drew up an executive order banning assassination, just to keep the peace. Which may have led directly to his OWN assassination.

Perhaps the gentle Congresswoman should read some history.

6. I don't believe that our congress reps can or should publically support
....assasinations of any kind. It is irresponsible and inflammatory. Yet not everyone seems to agree with that.

Is Mr. Robertson's Speech Protected?
A firestorm of commentary has been generated every since Pat Robertson, one-time Republican presidential candidate and leader of the 1.5 million member Christian Coalition advocated the assassination of Venezuelan presiden Hugo Chavez. Mr. Robertson has since apologized (kind of), and perhaps the matter is put to bed. Or is it? Do Pat Robertson’s comments fall under the protection of the citizens’ first amendment rights to free speech? Or, are his comments so incendiary that it endangers the national security of the United States and should he be punished in some way?

Suprement Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. said "The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man in falsely shouting fire in a theater and causing a panic". One wonders whether or not the statements made by Pat Robertson on Monday are protected under the 1st amendment. Where does the protection of free speech end? Would speech still be protected if it endangered the national security of the United States? Does Pat Robertson's standing in the community as a political leader and public figure put us more at risk from retaliation by Chavez than an ordinary pubic citizen with little to no public face? Does speech change protections based on the speaker's public standing? It seems reasonable to assume that me, you or any other citizen advocating the assassination of a foreign governmental official is less dangerous to the US than if someone like a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, or the Executive administration or the Congress says this. I believe it is against the law for a governmental employee to advocate assassinations. However, if a public citizen does is it protected speech? Any constitutional lawyers out there? I'd like know what is protected and what isn't. Does Robertson get a bye because he is simply a public citizen, or does he get held to higher standard because of his public image and visibility?

Tell me what you think,

Seriously, no comment.

This is absolutely un-called for. I've seen this screed on Maher, her method of debate is yelling louder than anyone else and interrupting all the time. She's annoying as hell

I mean, even a politician has got to be pretty stupid to say something like this in public?

Has she got a previous record for being a moron?

19. So when the Cuban gov arrests conspirators DUers mewl about "dissenters" getting arrested.
Edited on Thu Nov-30-06 10:57 AM by Mika
Here we have promonent US legislators openly calling for assassination of a foreign head of state (Ms Ros-lehtinen isn't the only one calling for the killing of Mr Castro, Fla reps Lincoln Diaz Balart and his brother Mario have said the same thing) openly putting up, and getting passed, legislation for millions of our tax dollars to be used to fund networks of co-conspirators in Cuba to do so. This is also a gross violation of the US's Neutrality Act.

But still we have DUers mewling about how the Cuban gov represses these co-conspirators and networks of terrorists and those who aid and abet them.

22. Jeb Bush was Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's campaign manager when she was breaking into politics.
Jeb Bush and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen both championed the cause of bomber/mass murderer, Orlando Bosch Ávila as he sought to get a pardon from Jeb's father, which he received, OVER THE OBJECTIONS of the Associate U.S. Attorney General Joe D. Whitley, who tried to deport him, calling him "a terrorist, unfettered by laws or human decency, threatening and inflicting violence without regard to the identity of his victims."

Orlando Bosch Ávila's lawyer was Raul Cantero (the grandson of bloody, overthrown U.S. puppet, Fulgencio Batista, Cuban dictator) whom Jeb Bush appointed to his Florida Supreme Court a few years ago.

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's sponsorship of Orlando Bosch Ávila has her supporting a man who helped engineer the FIRST MID-AIR BOMBING OF AN AIRLINER ON RECORD which also slaughtered all 73 people on board, including children.

Yeah, only a very hard core bunch would EVER elect a piece of crap like Ros-Lehtinen to Congress. She is pure scum, and should spend the rest of her life trying to atone for her crimes against humanity in supporting mass murderers.

bomber/mass murderer, career international terrorist, Dr. Orlando Bosch Ávila
Protected by Florida Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen

25. Wasn't just Ileana. It was her whole politcal group, the hard right fascist exiles.
The Miami City Commissioners themselves named a day in the man's honor, in Miami. I think they also named a street for him.

It would help you to get a sense of the Bushes if you knew the father's connection with the Batista Cubans goes all the way back to before the Bay of Pigs. His father, Preston Bush even owned land in Cuba.

You may recall that the Nixon White House also used Cubans for the Watergate break-in, as well as the break-in of Daniel Elsworth's psychiatrist, to gain personal information on him.

Very old connections involving crime, violence, etc.

26. One of her campaign slogans was "Free Orlando Bosch", B4 Bush 41 pardoned him.
http://forum.cygnus-study.com/archive/index.php/t-647.html
March 1, 2001—In 1990, through the direct influence of President George Herbert Walker Bush, Orlando Bosch—fugitive from justice, undocumented alien, serial terrorist and airline bomber—was released from prison in Miami, at the urging of Bush's son Jeb on behalf of Miami Republicans

Jeb (the family Florida fixer) traded the unusual release from federal custody for the votes of Floridians and delivered Florida to his father's electoral tally in the 1992 presidential election.

Orlando Bosch was not released because he was rehabilitated and repentant. He was not released because he had served out a sentence. He was set free by the Bushes for Republican gain with seeming disregard for public safety here and abroad and for the "Rule of Law."

Thirty countries had refused Bosch asylum because of his criminality. An acting attorney general in Miami and the INS had refused to allow him to remain in the U.S. In January 1989 the acting attorney general wrote: "For 30 years Bosch has been resolute and unwavering in his advocacy of terrorist violence. . . . He has repeatedly expressed and demonstrated a willingness to cause indiscriminate injury and death.'" Attorney General Dick Thornburgh described Bosch as an "unreformed terrorist."

There are elements of the anti-Castro crowd in Florida that are very radical and call for violence. People don't like this don't belong in political office.
