Prisoners 'to be chipped like dogs'
Hi-tech 'satellite' tagging planned in order to create more space in jails
Civil rights groups and probation officers furious at 'degrading' scheme
By Brian Brady, Whitehall Editor
Published: 13 January 2008

Ministers are planning to implant "machine-readable" microchips under the skin of thousands of offenders as part of an expansion of the electronic tagging scheme that would create more space in British jails.

Amid concerns about the security of existing tagging systems and prison overcrowding, the Ministry of Justice is investigating the use of satellite and radio-wave technology to monitor criminals.

But, instead of being contained in bracelets worn around the ankle, the tiny chips would be surgically inserted under the skin of offenders in the community, to help enforce home curfews. The radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, as long as two grains of rice, are able to carry scanable personal information about individuals, including their identities, address and offending record.

1. for once I agree with the bible
But it will go over big when they call for them to be implanted in sexual predators, then all felons, then school children "for their safety". These children will get used to them and grow up to be adults that accept them. It seems almost inevitable.

3. some children are already getting chipped, I think
Plus there's the new movement that sells you the idea of putting your credit card info under your skin so you don't have to worry about losing your cards.

The Brits better wake up soon. They're farther down this path than we are.

4. I think it will happen in all countries.
the value to law enforcement and merchandisers will make this happen if it takes 100 years to get total compliance.

7. Seems like a slight intrusion on "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" . . . !!!
Does Britain now also have a tremendous prison population based on what? not drugs?
And, aren't most of these people eventually going to get out of prison?

And this is about saving space? money? personnel?

Right!!!

This is about domination and control --- and if anyone agrees to this happening to "prisoners" eventually they'll find themselves tagged ---

Disgusting!!

11. Heres the interesting statement in Revelations
This 6-6-6 reference comes from the Book of Revelations in the Bible. Revelations 13: verses 16-18 read as follows (New International Version):

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast, or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666".

Some people do believe Revelations warns about just this kind of thing
the RFID chip will be inserted into prisoners Thousands

it will be interesting where they put the chip in the right hand?

10. The new passports do the same
granted you don't have to own or carry a passport but with the new U.S. Electronic Passport

The U.S. Electronic Passport (e-passport) is the same as a regular passport with the addition of a small contactless integrated circuit (computer chip) embedded in the back cover. The chip securely stores the same data visually displayed on the photo page of the passport, and additionally includes a digital photograph. The inclusion of the digital photograph enables biometric comparison, through the use of facial recognition technology, at international borders. The U.S. e-passport also has a new look, incorporating additional anti-fraud and security features.
Since August 2007, all domestic passport agencies and centers issue only e-passports.

When I first heard about these they talked about how they could be scanned while still in your pocket but I see on the web page they claim they can now only scan them once the cover is open - like library books with the card that keeps the alarm from going off. Do I trust anything designed by this administration to be what they say it is - NO!
