John Edwards - Oklahoma City Rally |
|
An absolute MUST listen to - this speech is the speech that every DEMOCRATIC candidate should be making - shame on any candidate that doesn't discuss these issues. PASS IT ON IT'S OUR FIGHT!

1. After hearing the Nevada score, this almost makes me cry |

Living in Iowa, I had the opportunity to see JRE about 10 times. It was easy to imagine him moving into the seat of power and getting on with starting the incredible task of following Bush. At least JRE had a direction. Saw Clinton several times and Obama @ 8 times. They just don't get it like JRE does. I fear ten years from now we will be kicking ourselves for having had a chance and blowing it. I sure hope Obama or Clinton surprise me and make me eat my words.

I hope so... because this nation is not getting the message because the media does NOT want John's stump speech to be heard on a national level - in fact - I think us folks at DU should each write countdown@msnbc.com and ask Keith to put John's speech from this video on, or at least show the highlights and actually SAY, since the media is not giving one of the major candidates fair time, despite thousands of national endorsements, dozens from well known groups, and a well run campaign, that he will show some of John's speech to even out the playing field... or do it each night or something - HELP US KEITH!
I'm writing Keith, hope others do also.

9. How do you know we're NOT? |

Please, I realize you are frustrated, but... telling those of us who are working our butts off to DO SOMETHING is like a slap in the face.
So, should I ask... what are YOU doing?

12. Edwards has the conviction and the right ideas... but unfortunately... |
|
... he's lacking the presence of Obama and the Clintons' political machine.

Edwards was in Atlanta yesterday and my husband posted his rally speech. We must force them to hear us, we are here and we will not be ignored! The others may get union support but Edwards gets the support of their members. Look at where he speaks...union halls, he has the support of the working class and it has always been the working class that has supported the least among us.

Too many people are not "hearing" Edwards' message, and I mean this both literally and figuratively.
Regarding the latter, I think Edwards needs to rethink his presentation a bit and tweak it.
His message speaks to me, but I think if he could end his regular speech with something more general, that he might draw in some voters who seem to be captivated by purely inspirational speeches that lack specifics.
He needs to end talking about hope, change, a new tomorrow, a new beginning.
Also, I think it would be good to present a visual of what tomorrow, with him as president, what it would look like.
A $400 one-time check from the government that will not fix our recession because only jobs will fix our recession. So instead of relying solely on a this one-time check and a request for our citizens to go shopping, as President I would immediately create a program to begin rebuilding our infrastructure that expands wind energy and solar power. This much needed development will not only boost our economy, but it will also expand national security because we will be moving forward to end our dependence on foreign oil.
Obviously I am not a speech writer :-).
