"It was dark all around.
There was frost in the ground
When the tigers broke free."

1. "and that's how the high command took my daddy from me."
One of the most stinging last lines in lyrical history IMHO.

2. I couldn't agree more...
Little known, little heard, but plaintive and powerful. Brings tears every time I hear it.

Anyone who appreciates this piece might also investigate Jim Page (NOT Jimmy Page), Seattle song writer, artist, and performer providing some of the most incredible (brutal) lyrics to be found anywhere. Also little known and little heard. There's a clip of his 'When Johnny Comes Marching Home' (in the original anti-war flavor, NOT the rah rah flag-waver it became during the Civil War) here:

From his CD 'Collateral Damage'

3. One of my favorites by Floyd
This was originally written for The Wall, but was left off for lack of space. Its first appearance was the soundtrack to the movie. Great song.
