"what's his slogan? a lot of audacity but not much hope? think about this -- vice president rahm emanuel goes on a hunting trip and someone gets shot. no one believes it's an accident. (pause. looks aside to camera) that thing isn't rolling is it?"

Edited on Sat Feb-16-08 04:04 PM by trthnd4jstc
He was one of the Reasons, I had at that time, held off from joining the Democratic Party. He was mean, heartless, and did not care about my concerns as a citizen. I admit that I am not a citizen in his district, yet he treated me worse than I have been treated by Rep. Shimkus, who is, unfortunately, my Representative. Also, did every Republican walk out Friday? Anyway, Raum Emmanuel represents the elitism in the Democratic Party that truly Pees me Off. I wish he was not so extreme in his anti-democratic attitude. Anyway I love Durbin. Vote Durbin, 2008, Senate!

12. Firedoglake is promoting a candidate to "de-throne" Emmanuel. I don't live in
IL, but I will definitely send $ to the opposition. I haven't followed it too closely but I remember reading that there was a good chance of defeating him in his his district. That would be great! One less DLC hack to screw the Democratic Party. I'll never forgive his attacks on Dean along with that other corporate henchman Carville.

Other than that Emmanuel just comes across as a pompous egotistical asshole
to anyone that has met or seen him. I hope the campaign against him works and a
progressive can be elected.

Did Carville Tip Bush Off to Kerry Strategy (Woodward)
By M.J. Rosenberg | bio

?On page 344, Woodward describes the doings at the White House in the early morning hours of Wednesday, the day after the '04 election.

Apparently, Kerry had decided not to concede. There were 250,000 outstanding ballots in Ohio.

So Kerry decides to fight. In fact, he considers going to Ohio to camp out with his voters until there is a recount. This is the last thing the White House needs, especially after Florida 2000.

So what happened?

James Carville gets on the phone with his wife, Mary Matalin, who is at the White House with Bush.

"Carville told her he had some inside news. The Kerry campaign was going to challenge the provisional ballots in Ohio -- perhaps up to 250,000 of them. 'I don't agree with it, Carville said. I'm just telling you that's what they're talking about.'

"Matalin went to Cheney to report...You better tell the President Cheney told her."

Matalin does, advising Bush that "somebody in authority needed to get in touch with J. Kenneth Blackwell, the Republican Secretary of State in Ohio who would be in charge of any challenge to the provisional votes." An SOS goes out to Blackwell.

The rest is history.

Million Dollar Assholes: Carville, Shrum & Greenberg

-snip

I saw a documentary that blew me away today but I don't mean in a good way. It was called Our Brand is Crisis, about how the firm of Carville, Greenberg and Shrum (as in James Ragin' Cajun Carville and Bob $5 million man Shrum) travel around the world meddling in political situations they know little about for fun and profit when they're not busy losing Presidential elections.

The film takes place in the Bolivian election of 2002, when Carville et. al. convinced the Bolivian people they needed to elect Gonzalo Sanchez de Lozada, aka Goni, an American-born candidate who speaks Spanish with an accent and who had failed miserably once before as President during the 90s. He is elected by the thinnest of margins, only to be forced to resign 14 months later amid riots that left 100 people dead.

but he has a green party opponent in the general. i wouldn't mind the green party actually becoming a party. i guess taking a swat at rahm is a good party building exercise.

Chicago Immigrants Slam Rahm Emanuel
By: Jane Hamsher Friday November 16, 2007 12:30 pm

?Blue America joined with immigrants' rights groups in Illinois to take on Rahm Emanuel and his efforts to push House Democrats into backing the enforcement-only Heath Shuler/Tom Tancredo SAVE Act in the House. That bill would put the Department of Defense in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security to spend a lot of money turning the border into a police state (Shuler's office boasts that Mark Pryor introduced the same legislation in the Senate yesterday).

Digby:

This savvy advice to the savvy Democrats has led them to jettison any further attempt to get a comprehensive immigration bill and instead rush to introduce an entirely punitive "enforcement" boondoggle called the SAVE Act that throws even more police power at Homeland Security, tons of money at police agencies, both militarizes AND privatizes the border (a neat trick), empowers the IRS to share information with other agencies and creates a new federal database that contains information about every American worker.

...The savvy Dems have decided to do this because they believe that by helping Tom Tancredo "move the ball" they can "take the issue off the table." It is the same tried and true Greenberg and Carville tactic that was argued in 2002 when they said to get the Iraq war resolution off the table so the Dems could discuss the issue their focus groups told them people really cared about -- prescription drug coverage. This tactic has really been a big success for Democrats: five long years later, we are arguing that we need to get immigration off the table so we can get down to the issue people really care about -- Iraq.

If he was in my district, I wouldn't vote for him. He is part of the problem-not the solution.

19. It's an intentional spoof
The video was done as a spoof or "roast" for the Congressional Press Corps Dinner (like the presidential press dinner where they have "funny" acts by the pres, staff and members of the press).

24. It sounds like they really hate this guy
If it was my colleagues saying this kind of stuff about me, I would find it hard to share the joke.

I am curious to know what Emmanuel has done to deserve such sharp blades in his back.

As was already pointed out - Carville is not to be trusted.
