Petitioners agreeing to a new Forum "GD:GE" on DU ...

Thank you for agreeing to stand together and make our request to the DU Admins! I am hearted by your show of support.

We agreed to the formation of a new forum listed under the Big Forums on DU, entitled, "General Discussion: General Election" (or GD:GE for short). We also agreed to a Mission Statement.

Our Mission Statement agreed to is:
To work together to organize for the Obama vs. McCain fight in 2008, and everything else down-ticket in the Democratic Party.

We have one suggested change to this Mission Statement, made by ClassWarrior in Reply #105 of the thread linked above, that "DU post-primary rules should be in effect there immediately."

I will PM you with the link to this thread, and I will need you, the petitioners, to answer to the addendum proposed by ClassWarrior with a reply below of yes or no.

We will need at least 10 petitioners to agree to this addendum to amend the original Mission Statement.

Hello David, Dave and Brian,

I am writing on behalf of 31 fellow DU Members who are DU Donors. We humbly request that you consider creating a new forum listed under the Big Forums on DU, to be called "General Discussion: General Election" (or GD:GE for short).

We believe we have followed the rules set forth by you to make this request:

One of the best things about DU Groups is that members have the ability to suggest new groups to the Administrators of Democratic Underground. If you wish to suggest a group, please follow this procedure:

1. Start one discussion thread in the forum of your choice to tell people about your idea for a DU Group.

2. In that thread, you must get responses from at least ten DU members who agree to be active participants in the suggested DU Group. All ten members to respond must have donor stars.

3. In that thread, members must agree on a proposed mission statement for the DU Group.

4. When enough members have signed on to join the group and have agreed on a proposed mission statement, one member must officially suggest the DU Group to a DU Administrator (Skinner, EarlG, or Elad), by sending an email. Please be sure to include a link to the thread where members have discussed the proposed Group.

In this thread, 31 DU Donor Members agreed to the creation of this new forum, agreed to be active participants, and agreed on the proposed mission statement.

During the course of the thread, one DU Donor Member suggested an addendum to the original mission statement. I made an appeal to the original petitioners and at least 10 of these DU Donor Members agreed to the amendment to addend with the new language in this thread:

We are not asking that GD-P be dissolved. We are simply asking that the new forum be created so that the transition to the general election cycle may begin.
