How do RW'ers rationalize the "liberal media" when they have let Bush slip by time and time again? |
|
RW'er: It is well known that the media has a liberal bias!!!!
Actual Liberal: Why then, would a so-called 'liberal' media report very little or not at all on things that could destroy the Bush Administration, things such as the Downing Street Memo then?
RW'er: Well... uh... They're liberal, but not far left!!!
Actual Liberal: That doesn't even make sense, dozens of items have came and went because the media would not call it out on Bush, and it's all because they're Liberal but not that Liberal?
RW'er: Things like what!!!!
Actual Liberal: Funeralgate, 2000 election controversies, Ken Lay, the Energy Task Force, the lead up to the Iraq War, Jack Abramoff knowing that Bush would invade Iraq even before Bush was talking about invading Iraq as a last resort, propaganda, the response to Hurricane Katrina, Jack Abramoff, need I go on?
RW'er: ...!!!!
Actual Liberal: Buddy, you ok?
RW'er: Why do you hate America?!!!

2. I believe your question contains it's own answer |
|
They rationalize it (i.e. make up logic that does not apply). But I agree with your point.

4. because they've been told to think the media is liberal |
|
by the people who wish to replace that information with right wing opinion hit pieces, propaganda, and lies.
It's very deliberate and obvious. If you want to give people false information you need to paint the true information as being false/biased.

5. "But the liberal media is responsible for Bush falling in the polls!" |
|
"Don't the polls reflect the mood of the country?" "Exactly! If the liberal media told the truth about Bush he'd still be in the 70s!" "How do you know they are not telling the truth?" "Because his numbers are in the 20s. Obviously, the liberal media is lying about him. Don't you get it?"

6. To them, anybody that does not toe the party line |
|
Is obviously showing their liberal bias.
Fox is balanced because they have a liberal voice in Alan Colmes to balance Hannity, and that other host has a 2nd cousin whose grandfather married a Democrat.

7. All the things you point to as stories the corporate media doesn't report- |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-04-07 11:35 AM by Marr
are things the hardcore Bush fans aren't even aware of. And if some newsy friend informs them of these stories, they dismiss it all as "conspiracy theory". Doesn't matter how undeniable the story is- even things like the Downing Street Memo can be shrugged off as nothing but wacko fantasy by a real doublethinker.
