Mike Bloomberg Would Like You Idiots To Get Over Yourselves

We are pretty close to giving super-billionaire Michael Bloomberg one of our coveted Wonkette Presidential Endorsements because he basically just called all the candidates a bunch of fear-mongering wusses.

Reporters in New York have been harassing Bloomberg for hysterical comments about those four guys from Puerto Rico or wherever who hoped to destroy America by, er, blowing up a gas tank at JFK Airport. Mikey told them to get a life. Really, he said “Get a life.” Asked whether everybody should freak out about the terrorisms, he said people have a much higher risk of being struck by lightening than hurt by terrorists, and that people should be concerned about actual things that might kill them, such as lung cancer or falling out a window:

“Make sure you have guards on your windows if you live above the ground floor and have young children; make sure you have fire detectors and change the batteries. Those are the kinds of things,” he said. “But it doesn’t take away from the fact there are lots of threats to you and the world. There’s the threat of heart attack for genetic reasons. You can’t sit there and worry about everything. Get a life!”

2. Good for Mayor Mike! New Yorkers are tough, thank you.

Rudy G. has turned 9/11 into a campaign slogan by hyping the threat. But that's not the attitude of most New Yorkers.

New Yorkers kept their damn heads during the attack and lined up after it to volunteer to do everything from donating blood to clearing debris. We've been hit twice. We know we'll be hit again. We don't need politicians and the media running around like Chicken Little.

The fact is that those New Yorkers who lived through it have moved on except for a driving determination to honor the dead and punish the people who did it.

Oh yeah, except for the fact that no one wants to work in the "Freedom Tower".

5. Absolutely right, before the towers fell New Yorkers couldn't wait for his term to end.

Divisive and nasty most people couldn't wait for "Giuliani Time" to end.

For a couple of months after 9/11 he seemed to grow a bit but now that he's turned it into a campaign slogan it's pretty clear that the old Rudy is back and as nasty as ever. Now instead of going after squeegee guys he can point his vitriol at Iran--with nuclear weapons no less.

It would be nice to think that the rest of the country will be able to see through him but I doubt it.
