REPUBLICAN sheriff accepts bribe from Hilton family to release their worthless daughter!

On June 3, 2007, after attending the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, Hilton checked herself into the Men's Central Jail of the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles at 11:38 pm PDT. From there, Hilton was transferred by authorities to a special section "reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates"<42> within the Century Regional Detention Facility, an all female jail in Lynwood. Hilton was given the inmate booking number 9818783. With credit for good behavior, it was anticipated that Hilton would only serve 23 days of her 45 day sentence.<43>

In an unexpected turn of events, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca's signed orders on the morning of June 7, reassigning Hilton to 40 days of home confinement with an electronic monitoring device due to an unspecified medical condition.<44> Sheriff Baca commented on the release saying, "My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice."<45> Baca accepted a $1,000 donation from Hilton's grandfather last year, the maximum amount allowable by law.<46>

The same day Paris was released from jail, Judge Michael Sauer ordered Hilton to reappear back in his court the following morning (June 8). At the hearing, he sent her back to jail to serve the entirety of her original 45-day sentence. Upon hearing the sentence, Hilton shouted, "It's not right!" and started screaming for her mother, who was present in the courtroom. She was then escorted out.

Leroy David Baca (born May 27, 1942 in East Los Angeles, California) is the Sheriff of Los Angeles County, California.

Baca, a Republican, was elected Los Angeles County's 30th Sheriff against his mentor Sherman Block, who had died in office days prior to the election but remained on the ballot. He was sworn in on December 7, 1998.

He was re-elected to a third term in 2006. He has been criticized for proposing a half-percent sales tax increase in 2004 to hire more deputy sheriffs, placing friends on the payroll, taking of gifts and for releasing inmates from the Los Angeles County Jail.<1>

Baca has endorsed U.S. Senator John McCain's campaign for president of the United States.

Is there anyway LA county can recall this worthless, corrupt piece of shit? He needs to be GONE. Luckily a good judge did the right thing.

1. How is that a bribe?
Paris' grandfather gave the donation a YEAR ago. What, did he say, "In case my granddaughter ever gets in trouble in your jurisdiction, come to her aid"? That can't be characterized as a bribe unless they both were psychic. Not that I don't agree with you this guy should be recalled or voted out of office next election for sheer incompetency

5. It's not a bribe, BUT
Why do you think people like Grandpa Hilton donate large sums to sheriffs and other politicians? To receive friendly treatment in circumstances like these. Now granted, I doubt anyone predicted this specific scenario, but still it applies.

You think that sheriff will get the maximum donation next election cycle? Bet your ass he will.

10. Wouldn't that apply to anyone giving a donation?
If I give $1K, am I looking for special favors if I get into trouble?

8. She was already in trouble at that point.
Her original arrest was in September of last year, if the donation took place after that, it may very well have been a "just-in-case" type offering.

7. no need to exaggerate
Edited on Sat Jun-09-07 05:03 AM by NJCher
All the OP is doing is quoting a story which says this sheriff received money from the Hiltons. I know plenty of people who spread money around that way--and for exactly the stated reason that they just might need something someday. Quid pro quo.

16. Don't be silly. $1000 for the Hiltons is pocket change. A legitimate
campaign contribution from a republican to a republican candidate, and not even the maximum contribution at that.

It's a coincidence, nothing more.

17. you obviously don't know much about donors, then
Does everyone who spreads money around for "insurance" donate the max?

Of course not. Now that would be silly.

I don't care if they're Hiltons or not, nobody spends any more than what they have to. The poster downthread formerica has the right idea. It was more like a "retainer."

4. It sounds like a payback to me.
She shouldn't have been released. How many poor people would have gotten the same treatment?

6. bribe may not be the right word, since it was given well beforehand
but you can bet the rat was up to something, and knowing Gramps was a donor certainly didn't hurt the cause either. He's a typical Republican, sucking up to the rich and powerful, hoping to kiss ass his way into something bigger.

15. you are right paris---it`s not right
"At the hearing, he sent her back to jail to serve the entirety of her original 45-day sentence. Upon hearing the sentence, Hilton shouted, "It's not right!"

the judge did`t have the right to order her back into court and impose the sentence.

i will say there`s a bunch of really happy inmates who are getting early release because paris is in for 45 days...
