Paris issues statement; says she'll serve sentence; won't appeal.
Maybe she doesn't want to stir up the likely investigation of her earlier transfer that an appeal would prompt.

But no. She says it was after talking with doctors that she decided to serve her sentence (as if she has a choice).

And she's wondering why she's getting all this attention when we should be focused on our troops.

Oh sure. I'm positive she wrote that with absolutely no help.

1. Kudos To Her.
I hope she remains strong and is able to take some valuable things away from the experience.

22. Remain Strong?
Really?

Now, I do hope that maybe this experience might instill strength into her... and perhaps a little less superficiality. But, I don't think that she's shown strength in the face of adversity here. Do you really, OMC?

28. LOL That's Too Funny! Your Post Just Cracked Me Up. I Didn't Realize My Technicality.
When I wrote "remain strong", it was off the top of my head like some cliche. I meant it in a sense of hoping she can find strength there and learn what she needs to. Didn't occur to me as I was writing it that the statement itself, when taken literally, means remain as in she is already. You are right, of course, in the fact that the last thing she's been so far is strong LOL. Too funny. I'm gonna definitely pay more attention to words I use in cliche like phrases for now on. Jesus.

But possibly someone did.

wrong and it was then clear that any appeal would be futile.

Or maybe she sees this as the only way to rehabilitate her "reputation."

6. Wow, she's finally realized we have troops in danger overseas?
Edited on Sat Jun-09-07 08:53 PM by hlthe2b
My my.... Unbelievably, I clicked on the link--no apparent idea why, but it seems her psychiatrist was with her for two hours today and she was getting psychotropic drugs--off their formulary, I'm willing to bet.... Now, I am all for the best medical and mental health dare possible (for ALL Americans, including those incarcerated), but I wonder how many have their transition eased with psychotropic drugs and bedside counseling. Just wondering, that's all.

Ok, Paris, I WILL take your suggestion and tune OUT from here on forward... I hope this means a turn towards reality for you and a useful lesson that will benefit you throughout the rest of your (hopefully productive)life.

The troops are more important. I hope she comes out of there a wiser person.

34. While some people are starting threads claiming how great
she would do in general population, I have my doubts.
I suspect most people in there actually went to public school, and are not likely to be rich either.

She recovers and functions pretty well on those drugs!! Amazing, after the near nervous breakdown
( MOMMY!!!!!! ) yesterday, that she could even put two coherent sentences together, let alone
spell the names of foreign countries! Who told her there were wars going on? She has good
PR people though! Hope this is really her talking and it's truly from her heart but I kind of doubt it.

Is that a record? She addes five uses of the word "my" just for frosting.

29. She's a self-satisfied, smug snot
The image of her crying wrecked that. If she had been savvy she would would have kept up that persona while going down, as inadmirable as that would have been. But "image-wise" it would have been smart in a marketing sense. After all, that is why people pay attention to her in the first place.

Now, every time she smiles for the cameras with self-satisfaction, someone, somewhere will remember and publish the picture of her crying in the patrol car.

Having said all of that, she should have ponied up in the first place, done her time, and then got on with her life. At least that would have been the scenario in which she would have seemed the most decent and like she was taking her lumps and recognizing that she too must be a responsible citizen.

30. Uhm, does she mean it this time?
She said that before her last 3 day night stay in jail and before the "Mommy! Mommy! Isn't not right!" outburst. Can we believe her this time? In a way, I do pity the girl. She has never been disciplined before in her life, obviously. I hope she does grow some character and insight from this. Other than being incredibly ignorant, she doesn't seem like a bad person basically. I think she really doesn't know what right and wrong are.

32. Her lawyers probably told her that her appeal had a snowball's chance in Hell...
... and her PR people told her that she needed to put out some kind of positive spin where she doesn't look like a spoiled fucking brat.

The troops line is a nice touch, she must have just found out we're at war.
